Some SE Basics-Keyword Density
by TheFranj

1) Using Keywords and Keyword Phrases in your Meta Tags

TITLE TAG
Use keywords in your title tag. This is very important! And maximize that tag! Up to 63 characters. Much more important than your keyword or description tag. ALL OF MY TOP TEN LISTINGS HAVE KEYWORDS IN THE TITLE! And don't just use your chosen site name. Which had better have one or two keywords in it too. Do a short description as well.
I'll use my first Latina site, Luscious Latinas as an example. My title could simply be "Luscious Latinas". That's fine, I might get hit's for Latinas out of it. Who the hell searches for Luscious? Actually I get top ten hits for "Free Latina Porn", "Latina Porn", "Free Latinas", Latina Links etc. Why? Because my title is "Luscious Latinas-Free Latina Porn Pics and Links". Get it? Basic shit, but overlooked by many.

DESCRIPTION TAG
Do use the same keywords in your meta description tag! Mirror the theme you created in your title. Use the same keywords and phrases. Here you have much more leeway to work these words into intelligable sentences. Up to 200 characters although some SE's will only list the first 140. Pay special attention to your description tag. Meta enabled engines will display it as you wrote it!

How many times have you done an SE search for some keyword and gotten sites like this :

YOUNG SHAVED PUSSY biggest boobs -YOUNG SHAVED PUSSY biggest boobs Photos - The Best YOUNG SHAVED PUSSY biggest boobs

Will the surfer visit this site? Maybe he might have when there was only a few hundred sites to choose from. Not anymore! For the most part as soon as the surfer sees the description is spam bullshit he's gonna blow right past! The savvy surfer knows this site probably has nothing to do with Shaved Pussy.

Take the time to craft a title and description tag that indicates to the surfer that he will be getting what he's searched for. He will click! And he will be targeted!

KEYWORDS TAG
Rumor has it the Meta Keywords Tag is fading in importance. But still use them for now. Again list here the same keywords you are using in your Title and Description tags plus other relevant words you'll use in the body of the page. Many SE's use your keywords tag to calculate "Keyword Density". This is a comparison of your keywords tag to the keywords found in the body of your site. High keyword density is a good thing. Too high and you're a spammer! It's a little tricky to achieve the right keyword density. The difficulty with our industry is that we are mostly image oriented. Alt tags help a lot here.

2) Using Keywords and Keyword Phrases in the Body

TEXT LINKS
So what to do about non meta enabled engines and how do you build up your keyword density? Include some keyword rich text in your sites. Your text links will be spidered and keywords counted. I Can't stress this enough, use keywords in your text links! Build up your keyword density with them. Also text at the top of your page is counted as more relevant than that at the bottom.
We've been taught that the top of your page is prime real estate and it's usually suggested you place a banner here. Well come now! Think about it! We've also been taught that text links pull better than banners. So make that first visable ad a keyword rich text link. Kill 2 birds with one stone!
This also helps with the non meta enabled engines in that your description will be the first few lines of text on your page. Make it good and relevant. And have it make sense!

ALT TAGS
Here is a place you can load with keywords and phrases. Make sure every thumb, every logo and banner in fact every image on the page has an alt tag. Construct sentences within these tags using your keywords. Don't just spam with repeated keywords. Here again make it relevant.

WARNING TEXT
Except for my Rupert and Vern sites (Vern loves to do the warning text :-)) I've started using the typical scrolling form for my warning text. Here is another place you can load up with keywords with just a little clever manipulation. An example is below. Go ahead and scroll through it to see what I mean.

HIDDEN TEXT
Now this can be a little risky, but worth the effort if you just can't build up your keyword density enough in other ways. A word of warning; Do not use text the same color as your background. The spiders are trained to look for such things and your page will be ignored. There are many ways to hide text on a page. The best I've found involves a little bit of CSS. It's a simple tag and the magic words are "display: none". I havent a clue what the rest of it's for, but it works. You could hide the full text of "War and Peace" in there!

<div style="position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px;width:100%;display:none;z-index:1">Your Text Here</div>

VISABLE TEXT
Write a paragraph or two about the page and its niche. Or even a short erotic story. Work keywords into it and keep it relevant. In fact the erotic story angle makes for a good text link. Just give them the first 2 paragraphs or so and then end with "Click Here for more!". Send them to a story sponsor and build up your keyword density at the same time.

3) Why Less is More

One thing to think about as you try and build up keyword density. Too much text can actually have a diluting effect. So don't go overboard. One thing that I've found to be a mistake. Don't try to create a huge text based site and expect to get hits for all keywords and phrases associated with the niche. The Razors Edge is an example of such a site. It seemed like a great idea at the time but gets few SE hits. Because the huge amount of text surrounding my keywords actually left the keyword density fairly low. Though it got right into DMOZ so that helped.

It's actually a better idea to optimize your site for just a few keywords and phrases. Then it will take far less text to drive up the keyword density. Mirror the pages and optimize those mirrors for a different set of relevant keywords and phrases. Change the Title, Metas, Text links, Alt tags etc. That goes for every page on the site! No two html pages should be the same.
I just recently realized the importance of this and here's a link to illustrate it. Click Here. A Latina Dream and Smooth Latinas are both my sites. As you can see I got 5 pages right at the top and even took #1. Kewl! you say? So did I till something dawned on me. How many hits did I get from that surfer? 5 right? Wrong! Only 2 because the pages are duplicates and the surfer sees that. But if I had optimized each of those pages differently I might have all 5 in top ten spots for other relevant search phrases. That's more traffic!

Wow! That's a lot of work isn't it? Yes it is but well worth the effort. Now I have to go back and rebuild all my sites. Sigh........... But when I'm done I bet I'll see my SE traffic triple.
