The use of FPAs - Full Page Ads can be an effective and powerful tool for webmasters in their bid
to get surfers to click through to a sponsor's site where they will hopefully 'sign up'.
There are some link lists that will allow you to use FPAs, and there are some that will not.
Because of this fact, it is a good idea to make a list of sites that 'will allow FPAs' and a
separate list for those that 'will not'. Once you have these lists you can group your recip tables
accordingly and have separate entries into your site.
Alright, I am sure that you get the idea so far. Remember as well that even though you may
link to a Link List that does not allow FPAs you can still get surfers to view your FPAs
as you move them from one site to the next. For example, you might have a link at the bottom of
a gallery leading to a hub or filter page that you have built. Instead of linking directly
to that page you send the surfer through an ancillary page first - one that has an FPA on it.
Why make my own FPAs when most sponsor sites provide them for me to use?
Yes, it is true that many of the sponsors provide FPAs that you can use if you so desire. Firstly,
an FPA created by 'you' will mean that the surfer has not seen that particular FPA before and
therefore may be more inclined to 'click'. Secondly, and for many this is the most compelling
reason to create FPAs from scratch, most of the sponsor created and provided FPAs are 'huge' graphics
and apart from using up a lot of bandwidth, for the majority of surfers these FPAs just take too
long to download. As a result, the surfer is 'long gone' before the fpa downloads.
There is no point having a sensational looking FPA if the surfer doesn't hang around long enough to
see it! Sure, there's no rocket science involved in the reasoning for creating your own FPAs -
infact it's as simple as making sure that you can present the sponsor's site in the form of an
FPA as quickly as possible to the surfer so that you give yourself an opportunity to sell that sponsor to the
surfer.
All fired up and ready to start making your own FPAs? Great!
