BUILDing Text Banners
A VNWR Newbie Project Of the Week
In this weeks project we will be building text banners.
This is another back to basics NPOW.
While everyone gets going on their BFV projects from the saturday VNWR board
Post number 58899.
You can do these text based banners for quicker loading pages, consoles, and more.
Text based banners are not really banners.
They are tabled text with colored cell(s) and borders.
Standard banner width is 468.
Make the following table banners that width.
Don't forget to relax, ease into it.
Allow your mind to create good sales text.
and they can be as deadly as reg. banners are.

Note: Place all 3 of these table banners on a single white html page for review on the board this weekend.
Type One
An attention getter.
That's right, this one is to make them look twice!
You will have 3 lines of sales text..linked to the sponsor.
Make sure it looks the size of a reg. banner and not to long!
The top line will be big bold and get thier attention.
Example: OUCH! That Has to HURT!
See that gets the attention.
It needs to be in their face..and one font size larger than the other two lines.
It also needs to be short and sweet and to the point.
Then tell them it's so naughty you can't show them except on this other website.
Yea, lead the cattle into the sponsor, by a non blind link.
this takes up the othe two lines of text.
on this one..use:
border=0
cellpadding="3"
cellspacing="2"
In your table, make the cell background black and the border yellow.
Make this look professional in appearance.
You'll be using it for a long time to come.
Type Two
Lead by exclusion.
That's right, this one is to make them get what they think they can't have!
A long tried and true sales technique.
You will have 3 lines of sales text..linked to the sponsor.
Make sure it looks the size of a reg. banner and not to long!
The top line will announce the link is only for a certian group that most surfers won't be of.
Example: Ladies, this lesbian site is for you, NO MEN ALLOWED
See that gets thier attention.
And makes them want what they can't have.
It also needs to be short and sweet and to the point.
Then tell them a few things that only the group can get access to.
that will take up the bottom two lines of text.
on this one..use:
border=2
cellpadding="5"
cellspacing="5"
In your table, make the cell background pink and the border light purple.
Make this look professional in appearance.
Type Three
Marquee madness is in.
That's right, this one is to get things moving in that text banner.
You will have 3 lines of sales text..linked to the sponsor.
Agian, make sure it looks the size of a reg. banner and not to long!
The top line will be big bold and get thier attention by scrolling across.
This line should have the sponsors name in it somewhere.
Do this by using a marquee tag outside the line of text.
And place a blink and /blink outside the marquee tags for those
who are using netscape so it as least does something for them as well.
Example:
See that gets the attention of the surfer.
all 3 lines of text need to be the same size font on this text banner
It also needs to be short and sweet and to the point.
And fit the entire line in the banner width so
if they are using a browser that doesn't support it,
it will still show up nice and neat.
In the bottom two lines..promo the sponsor site..personally reccommend it.
And remind them to click!
on this one..use:

cellspacing="2"
In your table, make the cell background navy blue and the border red.
Make this look professional in appearance.
You'll be using it for a long time to come. in many variations.
Use RAW HTML ONLY!
No editors on this one..do it in notepad.
You are doing this to learn, remember!
And learn and profit from it you will,
you will use these as your base to pull from for a long time to come.
That's it..now go create them and you will find many many uses for them.
