Repeaters, what are they and how can you use them? How will they make you money? And why are you bringing them up now? All good questions and here are the answers and the project :) Repeaters are small graphics, usually under 5k (10k max) that you can use to help you make sales. They are the SAME graphic repeated over and over again to create a pattern. Or to bring the attention to the ad and your sponsor. Which of course makes you more money the more attention your ads get. Sometimes it's a simple dot that does it. Sometimes a sponsors button or small logo. And other times it's a themed item to set an illusion. Which is the case of waht we will be doing in this project. Pick a Holiday from these: Now think of items that are distinctly connected to that holiday. Go open up your favorite graphic program and create one of those items in a small graphic. Yes, I know not everyone is great at graphics, But for this project you don't have to be! Even a stick figure of what you are trying to do will work fine. Might even get some laughs, but even them it will get the surfers attention. Which is the point, and "not" to win design awards. In fact for this project lets keep it simple. 120 x 80 max size on the graphic, 5k or less as a target for weight. And lets stick to 4 colors max. Most times for these 2-3 colors are all you will need. Once you get it made you will create a text ad and surround it with this graphic. To make sure we are clear on this, you most likely will need to table your ad, with the sponsor ad, reflecting the holiday you picked in its sales text. Then using table cells that surround the main ad cell to lock in the repeater in place. Here is an Example:
See that little dud of a bat i made, took like 5 minutes tops, weighs like 2k. You see the browser only has to load an image once then the rest the times it's loaded it's instantly there from the surfers browser. This cost VERY little in bandwidth and makes for quick pages that can look nicely graphicly enhanced for promotions and look of your sites. Remember that this is for a graphic YOU created and not clip art. The point is first to get you using the repeators from your own creations first, Then you can take sponsor provided tid bits and items and be creative with them the next time you do a site or ad and bring extra clicks to your sponsors. That's it, just the ONE ad. Make sure to use alt tags for the SE's, and no for this project they do not have to be linked. Use it on a site or tgp gallery and see how well it pulls for you. You should be pleasently suprized at what a single small graphic repeated a half dozen or so times can do for you and your sales. Advanced Do a FPA or a MFPA with this technique. Add it to the bottom of some tgp galleries and do a round of search engine submits with it. At least 20 spider SE's. Enjoy this new tool in your bag of sales tricks!
