The Password Promise NPOW
A VNWR Newbie Project Of the Week

This weeks NPOW continues to take you into the summer building.
But, with a big twist, a bit of an evil twist.
This project will involve a never before given out secret.
But following it fully, is a must, if you decide to do it.
So all the newer newbies should/may want to build a single triple
if they feel they are not ready for this one.

The Project
You are going to create a password protected directory
of niche links to sponsors, with fake usernames and passwords.
You then will allow the most unsavory surfers,
the 404 and .htaccess redirects to supposedly accidently find the user/password and url.
Thus creating a target traffic flow as they pick and try to get into the sponsors for free.
Some of them finding they can't get in, will go ahead and check it out, it is thier niche.
and thus some can then be converted to members, making you money/sales.
Yea, I know, a bit evil, but better than they deserve if they are trying to hotlink you.
If you are unsure about if the sponsor wil allow this,
email them and reference this project for approval.
Note: use only per signup and recurring sponsors for this project, no per click sponsors.

The 404 Page
This is the page where you drop the user/pass for YOUR directory at.
You make this page all text only. It is NOT a sales page.
This is because this is an illusion you are creating.
On this page, use a name of a friend in place of where I have "John" at.
you should lay out this page in a very basic manner.
like this:
TEXT
USER:
PASS:
URL

Use your own user and pass, but it should read like this.
Hi, John!
Just keep that email with this URL on it.
Or just bookmark it now, but keep this page a secret.
Here is the username and password to get into my private list of membership paysites..along with my usernames and passwords.
Play it cool in there and we can both have fun in them with only buying the one membership to each.
I put them in a protected area so no one else can get them.
The username for it is : xXXXxxX
and the password for it is: xXXxxX
The protected URL is at : http://www.yourdomain.com/personal/index.html

You will send traffic to this page via your 404 and .htaccess redirect.
Do not link directly to it, you will give away the illusion if you do.

The password protected area
Set up a password protected sub-directory.
You will only have one page in it.
An index.html page, which the 404 page above links to.

This index page also is NOT a sales page, remember the illusion!
You create fake user names and passwords,
and place them above the fake URL to the paysites.
It's a fake URL because you will make it look like the paysites URL,
only linked with the sponsor link of yours so you get credit for signups.
Use a mouseover that looks just like the url on the page.
Be realist as possible.
Tell what the site is in a couple of them,
But short things, like:
Check out the blonde taking the cucumber all the way,
in the food section, Awesome! I did her man!
Things like that, but only on a couple of them total.
Do 6 sponsor links total.
Each in a different niche, so you filter them.
Remember this should be a simple page.
A table that's 2 or 3 cells across and 2 or 3 high with no border will work fine.
Or simply centered with an extra BR between each one.

The will pick thier favorite niche to check out and boom you caught them in your web.
Make this page have an exit console on it, so if they don't go to one of them.
You hit them with an exit console that has toplist links that feed something else of yours,
like a hub page.
This way you still get something else from them if they don't fall for it.

Remember the illusion is that it's from a friend and not a sales site.
I realize this is a bit different, but getting a tad bit evil is :)
Now go out and get creative and make some money off those who would take yours.
