A VNWR Newbie Project Of the Week

Standing somewhere in a semi public place
like a bar, break room, or mall, totally by chance, you
hear a couple guys talk about what they did on the net last night.
You hear the name of the site they are talking about.
It's your website, you begin to smile to yourself thinking,
"Wow, this is cool, they know my site."
About that time thier third buddy turns around and says,
"Hey I know that website! I go there all the time.
It's the best man! Make sure you go back and bookmark it tonight.
And it's real easy to remember the we address of it too.
Remember it had it's own very unique way of spelling its name,
and a great logo i'll never forget, with the lightening bolt and all!"

About this time you find a buzzing sound is pulling your attention
away from this conversation you really want to hear!
Suddenly your eyes open to see the alarm clock going off,
waking you from your dream of name recognition for your website.

Today I teach you how to do that for your special site.
After all, you all found VNWR.com and remembered it didn't you :)



AT some point in a webmasters career they find the need
for traffic generators or a link type site of thier own.
Or some other high profile site.
Basicly a site you want people to bookmark.
This is NOT for a free site and newbies should NOT do this project for free sites.
With the millions out there you would only be wasting your time and efforts.
No one is going to remember your free site name. Get use to that.
This project is for sites where you build your own traffic at.
It's where you can make use of bookmarkers.
And now with this project, name recognition of it as well.
To build mass interest, bookmarkers, sharing of your url, and more.

First get a url of your own that sounds like something easy to remember.
If you have one already, perfect.
This can be on whatever type of theme you want to go for.

Next get it looking like gold.
By this I mean, get it looking like a dream come true for a surfer.
You want him to bookmark, so you will have to give him a reason to do so.
Pick something in that niche that site is at and make it the best.
At least present it as the very best.

Get Personal with the surfer.
Create a persona of the URL and use it to talk to the surfer with.
Be interactive with them, leave an email address.
Make the entire site as if the surfer has entered you the persona of the URL.
Be creative with this,
there are about 10 million ways of doing this so do your own thing with it.
Talk, walk, reccomend, and get friendly with the surfers.
Nothing happens on the site without the persona doing it for the surfer.
Including reminding them to bookmark with the spelling of the URL.
Don't be perfect. Be real to them.
Make a few typos, kid around,
allow them to feel at ease there and not at some corporate giant.
A first person situation where you kick back and have a beer with them
will do you much better for bookmarkers than the perfect, i'm at work type of thing.
Do NOT stick with a person that doesn't do anything.
Have it in different poses around the site (always with your url with him)
showing off this or that, so it becomes more than a stock standard graphic,
it becomes the site, a real part of the the site it's self.

Logo and URL presentation is very important.
Animated Logos and URLs will give it rememberance.
Especially if they are funny or outrageous.
But stay on niche.
And yea you will need to make these for the site.
Get flashy, get in every corner and nook of what they do on your site.
Repeat the URL to them in converstions, when going to the next page, in everything.
Making it something they won't forget. Eye catching!
Something they will even stop seeing after a while it's so much part of their normal day.



Off site you will really stress the URL.
Make it the best in this and the best in that.
Talk about it on your other sites, even when unlinked.

Link up to it via some recips to other like type places.
Make it a very nice clean looking place with the comfortable feeling the person gives it.

When all is done and you start getting some traffic to it from bleeders and 404 consoles and such of yours,
You will want to learn a little SSI and have some items change on a daily basis.
This will keep it fresh and keep book markers coming back.

After all this, there are still a thousand ways to feed and make it grow,
but this gives you that solid foundation from which you too can have a name recognized site.
I'm sure many of you with Link type sites will be using many of these itmes in the near future.

If you are not to this level yet, do the triples project and build more for this summer.
You'll come back to this one as grow as a webmaster.
