A VNWR Newbie Project Of the Week

This weeks project is pretty simple for those who build free sites.
Because you build a free site just like you normally do,
In what ever niche you normally build it in.
But it will be a treasure hunt site as well.
This will place a very effective new tool in your webmaster belt to use.
And it uses surfers natual tendancies to your advanatage as well.
It's human nature to like a small challenge and be able to over come it.
This treasure hunt npow is one of those :)

Build your free site like you normally do.
On your entrance page,
You tell them there is a secret treasure hidden on the site,
in several pieces, but they have to find all
pieces to get the treasure URL.

The Treasure URL
Is simply a page, could be made like a tresure chest if you like.
But it gives away a Free Memembership to a sponsor.
This is a great way to promote sponsors who have free memberships.
because if they go to all the trouble to find the treasure,
then when they go there, they should be highly motivated,
and targeted to that niche any way(the niche of your site matches the niche of the free membership),
so they try out thier free memberships.
i highly suggest, since this should be a URL outside of your free site,
and apart from the free site, that you place a meta redirect on the page
to the same sponsor and set it for about 10-20 seconds before it redirects.
note: you can only use a meta redirect if you make sure the page it's self
isn't linked to from your site and is off site, otherwise,
link lists can possibly think it's part of the site instead of a filtering/bleeder method.

Planting The Treasure URL
Take the full url of the Treasure URL and break it into 3 parts.
You hide these around your site for surfers to look for and find.
Don't get to cleaver and hide them in mouse overs, alt tags, and such.
You want them to find them.
Make sure to tell them to put together the treasure pieces they find on the site
for a complete URL of the hidden treasure.
You should plant the treasure url pieces in places where they can find them, but not to obvious, like at the top of a page.
But you can plant one at the bottom of a page,
another on a full sized pic,
and another in an ad somewhere perhaps.
It's really up to you and your site designs and flow as to where you hide them.

It's important you identify which piece of the treasure they found.
part 1 of 3, part 2 of 3, part 3 of 3.
That type of thing.
This insures they look for the other parts,
and that they put the treasure url together correctly.

Submit the sites to link lists, top lists, AVSes, SEes, etc..

ADVANCED
Advertise your treasure hunt site(s) on your pages for gambling traffic.
and well as any adult oriented games type places you may have.
This will bring into you additional long term traffic that's targeted
and motivated towards solving this type of puzzle.
