A VNWR Newbie Project Of the Week
This weeks NPOW is designed to help you
take advantage of the small but slowly growing
high speed surfers on the net.
At this time dial up surfers still make up 80% to 90% of your traffic.
But that leaves 10% to 20% surfers you can do graphic heavy back flips for.
It's a fairly simple matter of breaking standard graphic rules of site building.
Which we will go into below.
This NPOW brings to you untapped or undertapped markets.
The high speed flash and movie based sponsors and sites
for the high speed surfers that dial up surfers have a hard time using.
Note, raw newbies with less than 30 sites online should not do this project.
You simply do not have the experience to do it right yet.
And done wrong it can cost you in the long run.
You serious need the basic skills you learn in your early site building.
Build a free site like you normally would.
On the entrance page you will have 2 enter links.
One for dial up surfers which links to your normal main page and galleries.
It should say something like this:
Dial up surfers Enter "site name" Here
Above the dial up enter link you should have the 2nd enter link.
This one goes to your High Speed version of your site.
Which I will explain below how to make it such.

High Speed site versions
While you must be sure not to break number of link rules
which are a basic 3 sponsor links per page.
You can find yourself using more creative graphic sales tools.
In fact the high speed versions should be much more graphic heavy.
To use the high speed acess to it's full sales capabilities.
You will have a main page and galleries like normal
only they will just be much more graphic heavy.
Which means they are more flashy and sales oriented.
Do NOT use highly cut up and tabled ads you find at many sponsors now,
as they often have a dozen outgoing links in them and that will not
work on free sites even with it being high speed, because it breaks the 3 link rule.
You will need to be creative and maybe even using some of your own custom made ads
if the sponsor you are using allows it.
You have all the pages of the high speed site inside the same subdirectory as the normal site.
Just name them differently.
Example, where you would have a main.html page for the dial up version,
you have a mainhigh.html page for the high speed version.
Note that the entrance page should be the same as it always is
except for the 2 enter links.
Make sure to make the high speed versions of the site a higher quality
but still sales oriented.
If you ever wanted to mess with fancy stuff and graphics, now is your chance.
This also allows you to use flash based advertising too.
And also note that the content should be the standard size, 500 min. on the long side.
It's still shared with the dial up version so don't get silly and up it too.
it'll only cost you more bandwidth for no additional profits.
Note that you are building these sites for a limited amount of traffic sources.
At present many link type sites will not be open to taking them
because of scripted fraud protection and the extra work in reviewing it would mean to them.
So you should make these for your own traffic, for the search engines,
and for a limited amount of link type sites that will take them.
The thing to do is find the link type sies that will take them,
approach the link type site and make sure it's ok with them.
Then create your own submit list of these type sites.
This allows you to open up to a new market that the net will be catering
at least in part to, in the future and growing at the present, high speed access.
This also sets you up to having entered an under tapped market.
And allows you to be there as it grows as well.
So once again this is a new market opening up to adult webmasters
in a manner that it can grow, evolve, and succeed in time.
The net ebbs and flows and we as webmasters keep up with the tides.
You can also use the same entrance page, mirrored, with only a dial up entrance
for those link type sites not ready for this yet.
You can also build high speed parts to older sites with new entrances pages
for new link type sites that will take them.
Advanced
Build high speed and low speed hubs to match the sites
and thier linking you are building.
Push heavily movie sponsors and such that work better at high speed levels.
