Sorry, Old Tom, I didnt get sucked into trying your evil popup game. A Long time ago, I learned that if someone tells you something is really bad/hurtful/painful/foolish whatever... and then says... "here, you try it" .. you deserve anything you get if you actually try it... since you were warned. "Hey, I just poked out my eye with this really sharp stick... hurt like a freaking @#$%#^^#$, but it's really cool! You try it!" No Thank you. :D Ok, my question and its probably been discussed a few thousand times all ready, but I thought I would try it anyway. In many of the npow's, there are variations on using the basic free site structure. Basic free site starts at the top with a small weight graphic of some sort, with sales text.. then moves on down the page in whatever configuration you decide to use. Has anyone tried using banner rotator scripts for the top ad spot... both for graphic and the text, either through a SSI or mysql database call to give the page some sense of life? I would assume someone here has tried it. I was just curious what you found out. Thanks. Message # 72899 172.138.161.28 Sun Dec 8 11:06:32 2002 |

I would think there may be times, like with an extreme/hardcore site, that calling somebody a slut might be appealing to the kind of guy that wants that stuff...? Message # 72898 172.164.142.254 Sun Dec 8 11:06:31 2002 |

BBW as an example. The discribe these women in some real crude terms. Now If I got a thing for big women I don't see them in this light of something to be made as ugly. "Our fat girls are so huge you would think they are a heard of beached whales. Come see the fat ugly bitches shake their flab just for your amusement" OR Follow this link for the most beautiful Big women the web has to offer. With our girls there is just so much more to grab on to. Cum in and see these girls are built for comfort. Take them for a test ride and see for yourself. So guess which link I am more likely to click on. However this is my own opinion as I see it but for those surfers that like BBW I think insulting what they like is not the way to go:))) OTC Message # 72897 24.222.128.200 Sun Dec 8 10:58:37 2002 |

I think the only way to make a truely EVIL popup is to pop about 10 popups that keep popping each other, otherwise the finger is faster then the loading time even on very high connection speeds as the PC still needs to load the IE window into memory... I can't say for Netscape but with IE I can't find a way out:) WARNING!!! Try this link ONLY if you are willing to reboot your computer to get out. take into account words and phrases that are not part of proper society talk...such as hooker bitch cunt whore ho slut phat and this applies to phrases as well as single terms.. phat booty slut lovers ho hunger nympho bitch etc.. bring it home for the surfer.. :) on another thing..i have noticed a trend by some newbies..that is a bad thing...where ever the advice comes from or if it just happened..stop it! you are hurting yourselfs.. what that is, is to use the word gallery in their site name or a site name that is almost the same as thier sponsor... so when clicking thru it tricks the unweary surfer into clicking to them insted of into the site... This is VERY unwise to do... first it will cost you listings..or get you lower listings.. second you hurt your chances of making good solid sales.. that happens because you basicly send them in via a blind link..blind link traffic..can pick up a few signups..and should be used AFTER presenting the sponsor to them in the best way you can..but if you do this on your entrance page or FPA on your sites..you are just bending over and sticking it in and breaking it off on yourselfs.. it is AFTER the presentation of the sponsor, such as on your internal stuff that you should do the hail mary approach...(best after filtering and retargeting)...for those of you doing this..the above way..adjust and stop trying to take a short cut that is hurting you and your sales.. you need to learn patience in how to control the surfer... it is a LOT to do with generation and manipulation of traffic... learn to do it right or the $$$$'s you lose..is right out of your pockets.. understand..YOU are making YOUR checks smaller by jumping the gun with this above mentioned technique.. The "skanky black crack whore ghetto hooker" would appeal more to my friend Jim who is white and looking for off beat nasty stuff that he finds exciting. He is completely straight but will search for two headed male midgets who like to have sex with trannies while wearing tutus. He keeps on asking me to find him two ugle trannies that will have sex with each other in front of a group of his friends. Personally I try to use descriptions that are complementary to the models, but to each their own. Message # 72887 67.34.75.23 Sun Dec 8 09:53:45 2002 |

"And lastly that men (more black than white)searching in this niche prefer the women to be fuller and rounder." I have several black friends who date women with fuller butts that would agree with this statement. "I asked a friend of ours who is mid-30's, single, looks at porn on the net, and is black, what type of approach would make him buy or not buy into an ebony site" Opinions from friends that are into a niche you're thinking of building are worth there weight in gold. Just my penny worth. Message # 72886 66.31.37.41 Sun Dec 8 09:52:49 2002 |

I'm still all excited about the gift exchange...what's even more special is that these are gifts that keep giving. Hopefully that will be the case $$$wise - but each time I look at the sites I see different styles, approaches and ideas that I will refer to when building future sites. Old Tom(jojasa) - re:Message # 72838 Thank you for this "gift" too. I printed it out and it is now part of my "Moms Work - do not touch book" and I know I will be referring to it often too. :) Mitzy-I was VERY nervous about offending. Before this project I don't think I had ever even looked at an ebony site. It's kinda funny how things work out sometimes. I just happened to be lurking at another board as this project started, and landed in on a "conversation" about this very niche. One of the things mentioned was that the word "ebony" really wasn't used much by people searching in the niche. And that was apparent by a search in overture, "black" was searched for more. I think I would have preferred to use ebony, because...well hell, I guess it just sounded nicer. But black was more appropiate with the sponsor anyway. :) Furthermore, it was stated that the ebony niche was frequented more by white men over 30.(I don't know if its true or where the info came from. I can only say it was posted by an experienced webmaster). And lastly that men (more black than white)searching in this niche prefer the women to be fuller and rounder. Well that was how I got my introduction to this niche, and I used info when building the site. Hope all is well and have a great day everyone. :) Message # 72884 24.186.168.27 Sun Dec 8 09:02:58 2002 |

Yes, the different approach was the one thing I figured I *could* offer. I had no idea of what to do with the niche... but we *do* teach what to do when you have no idea of what to do... so we did :) What's my objective? Sell memberships. To what? Threepillows.com. Is it a pay per signup or partnership? Partnership. Therefore I am interested in the member sticking around. So. I studied the sales tour, and the marketing materials. I did a google search and looked at other feeder sites. I read back through the recent maxcash newsletters - there's a good series on marketing to gay men. The classic approach is to get 'em warmed up - hot and bothered - and send 'em to the sponsor to secure the sale. The trouble is, I have no idea of how to get such a person warmed up. So... what to do? There *is* another approach. It's an emotional approach that just might work for this situation. It's highly targeted - but if a person responds, he or she may well stay a member forever. With a partnership program, that *is* the kind of person you want! I discovered, in my background "research," that bi-curious people are far less likely to be "open" about that fact, than either fully-gay or fully-het people. Thus, the "comfort level" is a critical factor. Consider this: If it's something you really want - and perhaps did not even know it was available - and it's presented in the right environment, cost does NOT matter. If it's right, it's right. If it *feels* right on an emotional level, you've made a sale. We're dealing with a repressed area of interest (or so I gather from the background reading). Thus if I can bring around a feeling of rightness, this will be a very STRONG emotional response. That's the approach I chose. Now, how to package it? Bright (pure, not pastel) colors. Fun. Fun means relaxed, barriers down. Bright colors go along with the holiday season - we purposely chose the same colors - and will go well with springtime. If the content itself takes care of the "hot and bothered" part, the packaging can take care of the "feels right" emotional response. Too many words, or too few? With a single-sponsor site, this became an easy choice. We already know that *any* click will go right to the primary sponsor. If you like the content, you'll very possibly click on the banner. As the surfer comes in from one page to the next, I used different variations on the theme, and different lengths of text. At some point, hopefully, something will "click". The site is really just a five-page ad. The full page ad itself is rather lame at first glance. One of its main purposes is to pre-load the banners used in the site itself. Its *other* purpose is to burn in the "welcome home" theme for those who missed it on the warning page. For a select few, those words will trigger a strong emotional response. We built the site title as an echo of an old Everly Brothers song. Most will miss it, but the few who catch it may cruise through the site with a bit of an emotional response in the background. Will this approach actually sell memberships? Who knows! But it's a different approach from anything else I noticed out there, and that may have its value. Now to take a look at Voltar's project... I didn't see what he did until just now. He's promoting the same niche, same sponsor - and, as expected, in very different fashion. He has well-tried methods for making the sale with a custom tgp gallery. As for myself, I'm better with the five-page ad... :) You'll notice he talks right *to* the surfer. (He also makes better use of alt tags than I did.) He creates a gallery of unusual quality to grab the surfer's attention, and then talks right to him or her. If it's the right niche for that surfer, he'll click on through! You'll see there's no attempt to filter or qualify the surfer. If they're here, we assume they're here for the right reason. If it's not the right person, there's no point in trying to work them into the sale. This is a high-precision approach - don't blunt down your approach for the masses. Suppose someone surfs on through that is the *perfect* Three Pillows member. They'll sign up, and stay there forever. Choose the bait such that *this* person will recognize it, and LEAP at the chance. That's the approach Voltar took, and that's the approach Jojasa and I took. If you can find a way to reach in and grab by the emotions, you'll probably have a sale. Message # 72838 209.134.132.9 Sat Dec 7 21:30:33 2002 |

Yea, Mitzy...in my early work, I used a lot of hardcore stuff...NOT any more ;) I agree 100%...make em pay for the good stuff! I DO still use hardcore banners though...after all, that's the idea...ya want hardcore...go here and pay for it! What I meant about going very softcore on the gift site was I even tried to keep the text softcore...more suggestive than anything else ;) And usually, my text is anything but softcore...hehe. Magus...I'm SO glad you like the site! It was a blast building it for ya buddy ;) And much like everyone else, it was a great learning experience in a new niche ;) Hmmm...wonder if Voltar matched these up on purpose. Seems like most everyone ended up doing niches they'd never worked before. He certainly IS a clever fellow...lol. GREAT day everyone! Message # 72826 66.32.25.112 Sat Dec 7 17:17:29 2002 |

I was out shopping a lot longer than I had planned on. HO! HO! HO! :( Mitzy I'm glad you liked the site. I knew absolutely nothing about this niche, so it was quite a challenge for me. But I enjoyed every minute of it! The sites are really awesome. This was a great project. Count me in for next year! Well I went thru them all quickly, I'm going to go back and take a longer second peek at them now. This was fun! Thanks Voltar. :) Message # 72825 24.186.168.27 Sat Dec 7 16:44:38 2002 |

And Mitzy...thanks to you for the kind words too Sweetie ;) Finding good keywords was where I spent a good portion of the build time ;) Think I'm gonna have to buy a BBW domain as a proper home for the site you built for me ;) It deserves it! Very cool... Oh, Sare...are you using outlook by chance? If so, I've run into that problem before. If you reply to someone's e-mail, or forward an e-mail...it will appear to come from whatever e-mail addy received it in the first place. Doesn't matter what your default e-mail addy is in that case ;) Hope that helps buddy ;) Message # 72818 216.175.81.27 Sat Dec 7 15:09:53 2002 |

But first I just want to say many congrats to Magus on his new position as DFN Weekly's Editor!!! Magus has worked with us at All Of 'Em in the past. Twice in fact! So he's put in some large amount of time with us and all I can say is he is a great guy and VNWR and DFN should be thrilled to have acquired an excellent and valuable asset in him!! WTG Magus!!! Ah the other thing ... I figured it would be ashame if the "Voltarians" weren't made aware of this, as I've seen very few if any of you listed in the contest/newsletter database. I'll keep it simple and you can click the link if you're interested. Basically our newsletter has been running a contest for over the last six weeks and there's only about four days left in which to register. There is nearly $42K in content from a who's who list of industry providers up for grabs. Four prizes with the grand prize being over $17K in content and plugins. Even our third prize don't suck with it being worth over $4,000. :-) I didn't want you guys to not be aware of it or not have a chance to go for it, and Voltar agreed. Good luck to all the contestants and thanks for your time! Message # 72813 64.194.239.157 Sat Dec 7 14:42:22 2002 |

My email automatically sent from the wrong box again :( I am going to resend from my hatteras designs box Voltar, I dont want you having to keep track of my 500 addresses... I can't figure out why it is doing that...I have hatt designs set as default...hmmm.... But for now, I have to remember to look at my from address before hitting the button.... it's a gift exchange today..from this project.. http://www.vnwr.com/npows/gifte2.html note: these sites and galleries are the sole property of the person recieving them..the person making them might also use them..but are being seen by a vast number of link lists and tgps(close to 100 link site owners and reviewers that i know of..many more as well i'm sure)..if you copy them..steal them..you will get caught and blasted off into space just before the nuke tied to your ass blows up...so don't do it.. do take the time to look at these fine sites and galleries and get sales ideas for yourself..and then create something unique for you :) alright..so far looks like a fun day today! sorry for the little disclaimer..but better safe than sorry..we do get thousands of webmasters here a day..
