Yea, the machine I built a few months ago has kinda spoiled me...running mirrored raid drives so I 'could' make a case that I'm always backed up. BUT, the case wouldn't hold water in court...lol! Way too many variables other than just a failed hard drive can occur... As you experienced with a temp...Ouch! Hmmm...another number perhaps? I could really use some more content...YUM! Another mistake we made was in losing track of the ORIGINAL zipfile of some of the content we purchased for that Triple Triple Triple. We have resized copies... but between losing a hard drive; changing servers; changing companies; we've lost the original version of some content. We're now careful to keep both online and offline backup copies in two or three different states. Stuff happens, and we HAVE had to mail out backup disks for recovery - but we WERE prepared. Another mistake I made was in using sponsor-provided content. The content was fine for that particular subniche, but the *sponsor* ads were not. The result was a mis-targeted mess. Message # 126778 209.134.132.9 Sun Feb 22 23:21:05 2004 G56 |

Makes sense to me OT. Thanks for your in-depth insights. I always learn a lot from your posts, even though there are times I don't understand what the heck you're talking about. perhaps I should do a series of posts on mistakes *I* made on the first triple triple triple... Well. Each subniche gets divided into three freesites. So, I bought a photoset for that subniche with enough pics to make a premium AVS site (which, at the time, needed 100 pics). That way I get the premium AVS site, at least three freesites, with the possibility of small AVS sites, tgp galleries, whatever. Sounds good... didn't work out so well. Do you see the problem? All three sites in the subniche came from the same photoset! And, they were trying to upsell the same premium AVS site! If the sales pitch didn't work on the *first* freesite, why in the world is it going to work on the *second* freesite? Think about it. The (hopefully) like the subniche - that's how they got there. If they don't like *this* portrayal of the subniche, let them look for something else **in the same subniche**. The trouble was, I wasn't giving them anything else in the same subniche! I was giving them more of the same stuff they already declined to nibble on. So, if your subniche has three different sites, you probably need three DIFFERENT sets of content. Perhaps you can mix and match *elsewhere* in that niche, in a different subniche, but not in the *same* subniche. If you're at the car dealer, and you can't sell THIS car, try 'em on a different car of similar type. Walk right past that cool pickup to see if it catches their eye. That's the reason for using three wildly different niches in the Triple Triple Triple. Put gay up against bbw against feet/legs/stockings. Make them RADICALLY different so that it's EASY for them to choose between the three. But once you have it narrowed down to your pantyhose subniche, don't do all three sites from the same photoset! Two of those sites were a waste of time. That's one of the many things I learned with *my* first Triple Triple Triple. Message # 126775 209.134.132.9 Sun Feb 22 23:01:55 2004 O62 |

Welcome Peter! Good luck getting started, you've found the right resource and thats half the battle! The weekend got completely away from me and I realized just now that I missed The Simpsons AND I almost missed LTS! But I got in just in time for lucky number 13 on your hit parade.... :) Had an interesting conversation with a certain well-known free-cam sponsor on Thursday, complaining that my conversion ratios had gone from 1:100 to 1:1200 with them over the course of a few weeks with NO changes on my side. Magically since that little talk my conversions have popped right back up to the good levels. Makes me go "Hmmmmm." Could be a coincidence, but sure seems suspicious. Anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend and is all geared up for a week of slingin' porn to the masses!!!! Message # 126761 69.140.207.45 Sun Feb 22 20:57:35 2004 G53 |

and truth be known..reg. avs entrance sales are alsmot never high, and don't compare to the sponsor sales you could make but bar them from, from the additional filtering that the triples project does...basicly use them for traffic (the avs entrances) and for some SE listings and you will probably get the best use from them.. or you can do the rotating FPAs like in the T2 triples project ..and build yourself duel hubing structures..where one is free site and one is avs oriented, according to which FPA pops up.. as Old Tom pointed out..there is a vast number of interlinking and such you can do with them, if you are so inclined to.. as far as premium avs sites go..treat them just like you would a sponsor.. :) Message # 126758 148.78.245.13 Sun Feb 22 20:49:20 2004 G58 |

To the best of my recollection, the Triples Project itself only uses freesites. Voltar and I have been discussing various ways of doing the AVS entrances, for going on four years now! How you handle those, rather depends on your purpose in the AVS sales. Let's assume you're doing a Triple Triple Triple. Therefore the normal instructions are to take the freesite, and link it (1) back to that niche's niche hub, and (2) link it to each of the other two freesites in that subniche. When you (2) link it to the other freesite, you link it *through* a targeted full page ad, to the no-recip entrance of the site. No need to send your own internal traffic back out to somebody else's linklist! But... what to do with the AVS entrances. Here are some possibilities. A. Make the no-recip entrance (index.html) an AVS entrance. Thus, when the freesite links (2) to the other two freesites, they're linking to the AVS entrance. In other words, each freesite links to the other two *AVS* sites in that subniche. Could be a good way to sell AVS memberships. B. Link (2) to the freesite entrances, but let the niche hub (1) link to the AVS entrances. This would be another way of sending your internal traffic to the AVS entrances. C. Link only to freesite entrances. The AVS entrances are basically stand-alone pages. Traffic comes there from SEs, linklists, and the AVS listing itself - but none of your own internal traffic goes to those entrances. D. Play the AVSs against each other. If they came in with a FreeNetPass pass, link only to the CyberAge entrance of other sites, and vice versa. Since the surfer signed up with one AVS, perhaps they'll sign up with a second AVS, or third, or fourth. Of course if you're not careful when you play one AVS against another, you can piss EVERYONE off in the process. That's never a good thing :) Message # 126756 209.134.132.9 Sun Feb 22 20:36:51 2004 G57 |

yea that would do as an AVS site for you to use in the duel avs project..but what makes the difference is the second site ..they need to be distinctivly different but of the same simalar type..so cross interest is there.. it's all in the balance of catching those surfers taht the first tour wasn't thier exact cup of tea.. With the Triples, you definitely want to do the interlinking as assigned in the Triples Project. I'm hedging the answer here, because the assigned interlinking is DIFFERENT depending on whether we're talking the single Triple, the Triple Triple, or the Triple Triple Triple. In a freesite, generally speaking, we don't intend for the surfer to find his or her way back to the same freesite. We want to get them targeted to whatever it is they're most anxiously looking for, and off to the sponsor offering that thing IMMEDIATELY, soon as they whip out that credit card. I may not have answered your question. If not, please ask again :) Message # 126751 209.134.132.9 Sun Feb 22 20:08:17 2004 G56 |

In your Essay you state that they never get to see your free sites again. Is this something you would suggest for the interlinking in the triples? I alright do this with my slutfetish link list it only lists sites that I use a certain AVS but was never sure about doing this inside the triples? "If you build it... They will come..." Exactly with HTML going out (because it is a mess LOL) The replacement is not forgiving about breaking the rules so if you get in the habit of doing it right in the first place you will have no problems in the future. I myself was guilty of the uppercase tags until I read in one of my php books why he encouraged people not to... it is true though that HTML is a very messy language which leads to some of the incompatibilities in browsers. This browsers doesn't allow for this optional coding that browser doesn't allow it but allows another... XHTML like XML there is only one way to do it and only that way will work. I was suddenly dragged away for a couple of hours, sorry about that - lol Knight - I've been with M3 for some time now and was keen to get a dedicated server but not quite ready yet... but the deal they offered was far too good to resist :) I had a few problems with email communication recently (It was my isp at fault, not M3)... fortunately Merlin was able to fix it :) I just haven't had enough spare time to deal with moving the files yet :) Voltar - 126711 - I know (& mentioned) it was Doghouse Dan's tutorial; I just thought you might have access to it but most of all I was curious about the lack of "" in the code because I've seen a lot of it in sponsor fpa codes (older ones) - :) OT - 126714 - Aha... lol - thanks :) Voltar - 126715 - I didn't realise they were using automated builders... Seems a waste of time to me, they're so easy to write! Hi Sweetness - thanks :) Wolfe - 126724 - That's interesting, I often do my tags in caps, don't know why, just cause it looks neater I think :) I agree about the fpas... I find it far quicker to build my own than take those and fix them, I spent over two hours fixing one up once... I could've built 3 or 4 from scratch in that time! OT - 126725 - That is interesting... I use a free software prog to write my pages in, it doesn't generate code but it color codes it to help identify errors and is brilliant for organising code snippets etc and it always highlights tags which aren't inside "" so I always use them! drop Old Tom an email at oldtom@vnwr.com for your tag.. on the domain and the image showing up..make sure you have the right extension on it..such as .jpg or .gif and watch, becasue they are case sensitive.. .jpg and .JPG are NOT the same thing... you should also make sure your domain has propagated and is live, or you will get some of those broken graphics not showing up until it is...takes 2-3 days after the transfer/domain sign up.. for the DNS to be complete...sometimes a bit longer if theres a weekend involved, i've noticed.. but yes if it's there in the folder, then it should be able to pull it right up from your own domain that way.. You will notice that with alot of old HTML and also another one is TAGS ALL IN CAPS... both of these are not a good practice. The programmer at work always tells me that the quotes are optional but they are not and may only result in html not displaying right for now but future versions of HTML they may not display at all... The same with the tag all in capitols, there have been hints that in future versions of HTML they maynot work or may have a different meaning... And don't get me started on sponsors LOL on of the sponsors on this board is a big offender in that department every time I goto use on of there full page ads I need to recode it. looking at the code drives me nuts and when I'm done I have half the amount of code and it all works proper... They need to stop using Front page or whatever "Designer" program they are useing... </rant> Guys and Gals learn to do it right the first time saves time coming back to fix it later or loosing half you empire cause suddenly the pages don't work right. =-) "If you build it... the lizard and the cat are already to oversee work today... 4 foot lizard is all layed out in the sun on the heating pad on the end of my desk watching the computer screen while she dozes. The cat is all cuddled up to her with her tail wrapped over the lizards head like a fur scarf. "If you build it... They will come..." Message # 126722 4.65.96.85 Sun Feb 22 14:28:05 2004 O61 |

Welcome to the board...... You get your banners from the sponsor site.... For example: If you signed up for cloudcash http://www.cloudcash.com/index.html On the cloudcash site you will see a link called "banners". If you click on it, it will take you to a page where you can go get banners for any of the sites in the cloudcash portfolio. Pick the site you want banners for and click the link for that site. It will take you to a page of banners for the site. Pick which banner you want. Point your mouse at the banner, right click and pick "save picture as" and save it to a directory on your hard drive. To link the banner: First of all, when you sign up for a sponsor, you should see a page called "linking codes", this will give you the link to the site that will allow the sponsor to track that it is you who sent the click to them. The html to link up is something like this... <a href="http://yourlinkingcode_from_the_sponsor_goes_here">a text link goes here above the banner<br><img src="http://your_Banner_location_and_name_goes_here"><br>a text link goes here below the banner</a> There are some good tips in this NPOW : http://www.vnwr.com/npows/bhtml.html and make sure to read the newbie quick start guide: http://www.vnwr.com/quickstart/index.html and the newbie tutorials: http://www.vnwr.com/resources/tutorials/index.html Good info in the basic html tutorial courtesy of doghouse dan: http://www.vnwr.com/resources/tutorials/basic_html.html Hope that helps you get started :) Message # 126719 66.140.68.101 Sun Feb 22 13:58:07 2004 O69 |

Welcome Peter! You have found the greatest place on the net to learn to earn. Tell Alan that Sweetness said Hi. Congrats on #1 ChristyB! Hi Knight. I agree, tis great to wake up and find you've been making $$$ while you slept. Hi Voltar, hi OT, hi mikeyddddd. Time to go climb the stairs and get some exercise. Living in a 9 story high rise has its advantages in that the emergency exit stairs makes a wonderful built in stair climber and I get a great view of the bay at the same time. and yea they are a good host :) Yea old Tom, i agree, some of the worst coding i've seen has been from some of the automated FPA builders.....it's like they used front page and made it even worse in some cases.. Message # 126715 148.78.245.11 Sun Feb 22 12:19:17 2004 G49 |

Yes, please tell Gr8Cobra that Old Tom says hi too! ChristyB (126703) - I had assumed at the time, that it was the fault of the software used to build the FPA's (not putting in quotes). That was just as incorrect then as now :) Message # 126714 209.134.132.9 Sun Feb 22 11:46:30 2004 B09 |

ChristyB..thats not mine..doghouse dan made that..as such i don't edit them.. but i do have teh tables NPOW that covers much other things that you can find and use with tables as well :) peter.l..nope a dedicated is something you will move into down the road..as a brand new webmaster, you should stick with the virtual hosting you have now, until you get it profitable and growing..and then you will grow into it :) Message # 126711 148.78.245.13 Sun Feb 22 11:01:21 2004 N40 |

A "dedicated" server is not something you need at the start. You have a server, thats what your host has your sites set up on. That is shared with others, where dedicated is just that, dedicated to just your stuff. I am sure I could have waited, but the offer with M3 was just to good to pass. Just don't do free hosting for your sites. Good Luck. Message # 126710 216.146.125.138 Sun Feb 22 10:50:47 2004 G57 |

That had to be one of the scariest things for me. I don't have a ton of stuff just yet, but sales were coming along, my other host had been great(I just could not turn down M3's offer for the money)and I was so afraid of any downtime. I moved one of my newest domains first, just to get the feel, Corey was great. Then I took the plunge with my main sites, no trouble at all. The response time from M3 is great, so have no fear. I just noticed two things about that tutorial that could use fixing: 1. It has two item number 5's! 2. The table codes don't contain "" around the elements and (that's probably why) the border color doesn't work! Never spotted that when I used it 18 months ago... I notice a lot of sponsor fpa codes and such don't include the ""... is that becasue they weren't necessary for earlier browsers or something? thers a link on the bingo page for your card..print it out and i suggest writting your post number on the number when you get it...it makes it easier idf you win and need to post your post numbers so we can check your bingo :) a reminder to new players...you can only use numbers on your own posts to make a bingo :) Message # 126702 148.78.245.11 Sun Feb 22 08:49:32 2004 B02 |
