Here we are with a new year upon us already! My how they fly and oh how they go! It seems like just yesterday I took the helm of the DFN and looking back I have 12 issues in the can already! Like the year has passed in twelve short months 12 issues was only three months but it was the smaller segments that make the whole. And that brings me to the point of this article rather than drool on about champagne toasts, innebriated adventures and resolutions yet to be broken. How the smaller parts of your empire on the net make the whole.

This is something that is often learned through much time trial and error webmastering. We have all heard of diversification in building and creating an infrastructure to base our internet empires around. Just the term empire should suggest that this is going to take more than a few blips on the map to make it in this business. If you have been webmastering a while, say six months or more you have started to scratch the suface of creating an empire. You should have by now built several filter pages and maybe even more complex filtering mechanisms depending on your skill level going in. You have explored a few different niches and sponsors. You have driven traffic to these by way of sites and galleries.

But many of you may be wondering how much you have to build to get to a certain level or make a certain amount. While no one can answer that question any better than they could predict thier exact income for the year ahead we can get some idea of what it does take without beating you over the head with too much info.

With these basics in hand you`ve seen traffic flow. You may or may not have made sales but be sure they are out there and plenty of them to be had. You`ve looked at stats and seen the traffic trickle into your bleeder links to filter pages and traps. You may have caught the signup that almost got away on a last ditch console or sponsors console. Keeping that sufer is beneficial and in turn building with that knowledge is too.

So what am I getting at? What is the meat of my mumblings? Well it`s what you`ve been staring at that may eventually become part of your empire in the near future. The tgp`s and toplists real and fake, the link lists perhaps. Places of your own to send traffic and build traffic over time that comes to be your own. And far down the road maybe even adding paysites to your little piece of the net. A nice goal for sure and in time as one becomes ready they can and will come! It`s also the niches you`ll be specializing in and building regularly for on a nice routine carried out everyday! The ones that always make you a sale when others fail! It`s the new sponsor you try because the one you`ve been doing great with is getting oversaturated or your niche is waning for you! It`s all of these exciting things in the months and years to come!

Now while the climate of this industry makes it more difficult for newbies to gain hold compared to years ago you have access to so much more helpful info that did not exist then. That in itself should be a boon. NPOW`s to point the way in the dark, friendly webmasters to ask for a bit of help or thoughts on an idea. But even after learning much and working the net for several years one may continue to wonder what it takes to reach that next level. But with a clearer and more informed picture of it we stack our deck a bit more on the side of success.

What does it take? Same as always...work! Educated and calculated, enjoyable and rewarding work. But in addition to work it is a bit of foresight and a bunch of diversification..not to mention ongoing learning. I hope I gave you a bit of a glimpse of what may be your future. And if you are already at these stages in the game then I hope this has helped you to continue to see with all eyes open!
