A weekend with Voltar. This should be a fairly unique view since I'm Voltar. Of course it could get pretty boring since I know myself already.

This article is about networking and what happens when you do. It includes a weekend where Old Tom and Jojasa came down to my house and we had business meetings and networking and some other things you'll see below. It was a well spent weekend and appears that it will have been a profitable one and effect many things for some time to come in our business.

Before a weekend like this you should talk to the people you are meeting and make some plans and agree on some things you'll be discussing and going over. It allows for thought on those subjects prior to bringing them up in conversations. Always a good thing to do.

Back to the weekend. Old Tom drives around 10 hours to come over for meetings. Along the way he stops in Chicago and picks up Jojasa. The weekend actually starts on Friday for us, we have a lot of thing we always go over. They arrive at my place Friday evening and we spend time together on the net getting some immediate things taken care of.

That is one thing with being on the net, that always happens. Something comes up you need to take care of. If that something effects you alone, then 99% of the time you shouldn't stress out over it. Fix it and move on. Now if its something that effects other people then you need to be on the ball and take care of it immediately. Such was the case Friday evening. What turned it into something very cool was actually sitting in the same room with Old Tom as he and I went thru problems and solved them. It was very easy to see where we compliment each other. Friday re-solidified our partnerships and gave us a great place to start from on Saturday.

Saturday we got a late start after a late night Friday. We started the day off with going to a "munch". A munch is basically a BDSM lunch meeting. One where a local group of people into the BDSM lifestyle gather, eat, plan meetings, trade favorite bits of teasing info, and just network. Unless you were to overhear some of the conversations, you wouldn't notice it any differently than any other group of people having a lunch together.

We actually had a room set aside just for the munch, so being overheard wasn't a problem. Except by some of the wait staff who get a kick over some juicy tidbits they catch pieces of. I could have had some fun with text links there for sure. I did inquire about the use of the room for a possible meet Voltar weekend sometime this next spring-early summer. Not a problem, the steak house likes groups of people.

The munch was casual, with good conversations going. In fact one thing I noticed was that it reminded me of something I'm very comfortable doing. It reminded me of an adult webmaster gathering where people get together and talk about things, the industry, their lives, networking, and future plans.

So it was a good time with very knowledgeable people about what they were conversing about. In fact we were invited to a holiday dungeon party they were having that evening. Jojasa seemed very interested in going, but hadn't brought any outfits of that nature along. I then spent some quality time teasing her that she could always just be tied up in xmas tree lights and go that way. My imagination is always on overload, so a chance like that was too sweet to pass up.

As things would have it we ended up working a 12 hour non-stop brainstorming session that evening and didn't get to attend the party.

Many things from that session will be visible coming up soon in different places and ways. As we sat there taking notes, writing on a huge post-it note style folder so we could show what we were meaning and making sure we kept apples to apples and were all thinking the same thing, we had a good time with our networking and constructive comments. It was very nice to bat around ideas and watch as new pathways open up and get modified into something profitable and doable as well. At some point Old Tom and Jojasa went back to their hotel to "play", which concluded that evening for us about 2 am in the morning.

Sunday morning Old Tom and Jojasa came to my house before taking their long drive back. We spent a couple hours going over loose ends and bringing forth new ideas that had come to us concerning the things we were discussing the previous day. Having a short wrap up day is always a good thing. One thing that is important to how we work is that no question is out of line or taboo. We talk candidly about everything, it's a business meeting and we treat it like it is. This helps us go forward with out of the box thinking and can lead to some interesting questions and answers some times.

All in all I had a fun and enjoyable weekend. I could talk with people who understood what I was talking about, whom I am in business with, and with whom I have future plans with as well. Old Tom and Jojasa are business partners of mine and work here at VNWR with me as well. Old Tom is also my best friend. I'm very proud of how he's coming up in this business and glad to be a part of it as well. I see good things in the future for the 3 of us and everyone at VNWR as well.

So why am I writing this and hopefully not boring to many of you reading it? Well, we needed a front page article. No really, I hope by sharing this with you, you will learn more and network more as the upcoming show approaches. You are the future, You are the VNWR Newbies! SCP everyone!!
