Networking and
Working the Net

Aw heck here goes! This issue of the DFN is due out like now but I need an article! I suddenly get the urge to write instead of dig for old nuggets! I`m sitting here in a typical fashion under deadline and trying not to get too cross with my two year old as she is doing her best to drag by attention away from the task at hand.

I see changes and challenges all around me at home and on the net. I know many if not all of you see the same in some shape or form. It`s a challenge for sure to persevere in the face of obstacles but sometimes that`s all we can do.

We`ve seen our share of trials this year in the adult indusrty for sure. Credit card companies have tightened up further and keep us guessing as to exactly why and what thier next move will be. Traffic is further spread out and hoarded by those that are culling it from the stream. And companies creep up with very broad and far reaching claims that can and do have an effect on us all. All of this can combine to make a difficult climate for doing business and does us no better for morale either. But just our very existence is proof of our ability to survive. We have done it thus far and certainly have plans for it`s continuance. But there is a factor that plays into this all. One that gives us an edge. And in times of trouble and doubt we may tend to overlook this very important thing all reading this possess. That asset is networking and the relationships we have and have built along the course of our daily work.

I think it is more important than ever to be maximizing our business relationships. Our friends we have been coming up along side of all this time that have been willing to trade links with us and accomodate each other with submissions, listings and partner accounts. The people we have bounced around and shared ideas with and the people that have provided us opportunity with thier programs and the webmasters that have supported yours. Only in working together, as not just true business people but ones that actually care about each other sharing our daily lives as we so often do on the net, will we surivive into the future of this industry while others may not.

Now this is certainly not a dire call or a doomsday issue this is merely a reminder as we head toward another year to assess where we are and what we can do to better our situations. And by going through it with others has all along helped me to keep a focus and share in the creation of opportunities for myself and others. "It is not merely enough to be a good person but to also surround yourself with good people." Continue and expand your working relationships. Stay active inb networking as well as in building!

I would also like to bring attention to more change in the form of the new classified ads on page three of this issue. This will be a permanent feature that provides a very affordable advertising opportunity for webmasters of all levels. Not everyone can afford a several hundred dollar a month banner spot on a big site somewhere and in fact is not warranted for many situations. The classified ads are a great place for smaller sponsor programs to gain extra exposure, site owners to recruit help in reviewing or design work and many other uses I`m sure I have`nt even thought of. I hope you all make good use of them and they open windows where none were before!

In closing I hope I have been clear an not long winded. This has been written on the fly under stressful work conditions including yelling spouses and toddlers climbing on me. But in that it is a testament to perseverence. The very reason I had to write instead of copy and paste. That would have been to easy!

Have a good week and don`t let the hum bugs bite!
