Main Page Templates

I hope last weeks admin overview of Autogallery was encouraging, maybe there will be a few of you considering a tgp, it's not hard, just alot of work. A prerequisite for the script purchase is knowing html, imagine that. The first suggestion I would make is to don't be in such a rush to open your tgp, you will become a slave soon enough. You need to get a feel for the script, gain and understanding of the template variables, decide on a layout and start coding your page in your editor. Since this is a script I would highly recommend you comment the hell out of the code. When updating the pages you want to make the changes efficient.

To access the templates portion of your script refer to figure 1 Select the radio button for your main page will be the first selection in the drop down box, execute function. The script template is broken up into three sections header, template and footer. The default code should be present in each section. There is no need to make this harder than it really is. You page should already be coded what you will need to do is split your page in half. To make it easy insert this comment into your page

"template" <!-- End Template -->We just layed your template out. Anything above <!-- begin template --> will be cut and pasted into your header portion of the script html. Anything below <!-- end template --> will be cut and pasted into your footer portion of your script html.

"The brain is a wonderful organ; it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office."
-Robert Frost

For the changes to take effect you need to update the html for the tgp.html or what ever your called your main page, The update will take effect "within the script" you will now go back to your main page and rebuild your main page, execute function. Your main page is now "live" for your surfers. The same process needs to be followed for your archive pages with one exception. Once you have the look you want to achieve edit your first archive page the second in the list of "edit the html for section of the admin. When you "update the html" choose the option "update all archive pages" option you will update all your archive pages in one shot.

Template HTML

The template html is html using script variables figure 2 Don't make this harder than it really is! Build on the default template once you understand the effect the variables have on the main page and the look it gives to your "list" then you can modify it to your liking, make sure that you have a "trailing" break and the end of your "list" template code, makes for a really interesting main page if you don't. That's it for the setup of the Autogallery

Well the holidays are upon us again! We all have alot to be thankful for this year. I want to take this time to thank Voltar, his visions and the VNWR staff for giving me the opportunity to write a weekly article for the DFN! Thank You! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
