A Big Step

Over the past couple of weeks, many new newbies have joined VNWR community. I have noticed that newbies tend to land at VNWR in groups. I know I found VNWR at the same time as three other newbies that are still hanging in. We’ve made big steps in the adult online business, and have many more to go. I like to refer to progress as a step. When a light bulb goes on you take another step up. Most times we, newbies and veterans alike, take one step at a time, but then there will be a time when the one step you take is actually a big giant leap!

I took one such leap this week. I decided to participate in this weeks NPOW. Let me tell you it was not an easy decision to make. I had the same feeling as when I made my first post to the VNWR board several months back. I wanted to participate but I was very nervous about it. I really don’t know why, but I was and still am. However, when I sat and thought about it, not only did it just look like a fun project, I would be part of a project that included veteran and newbie webmasters whose work I’ve admired and that have been so helpful to me along the way. I could see it being a good learning experience and certainly it was a good business decision.

I decided!! I WAS GOING TO DO IT! I typed out my post and I sat with my finger on the submit button for the longest time though, as I pondered my choices for the project. I decided as my first choice, a niche that I have never done before. I kept repeating to myself “You‘re a newbie. stick with what you know”, but something about this niche really caught my eye and I wanted to do it! I was really excited about my decision to join, and now the choice to do this niche made my heart pound. I glanced at my choices one more time and I knew I was ready. It took a little time, but I could feel the energy building at the tip, finally as if in slow motion, I felt the energy explode as my finger hit the submit button and then I heard the gentle sound of “click”.

I felt as if I were floating and everything was in slow motion. I could feel my heart racing in my chest and as I slowly caught my breath, I became very relaxed and a warm feeling of satisfaction came over me...“I did it!” I whispered softly to myself. Ok, it wasn’t that orgasmic but I did it! I’m glad I did, and I can’t wait to get started.

So for all of you newbie lurkers out there with your finger on the submit button for your first post, go for it! That submit button is your key to starting, tending to and building your business. And if you look around, you’ll find you’re not alone there are many others that are starting with you. Oh! and by the way, I got my first choice on the NPOW!... I think I’m starting to get nervous again. :)
