Interview with Multispeed

DFN: This week's interview is with Multispeed.

Lets get the real basic stuff first...
Multispeed My name is Multispeed, I'm 48 and I live in Alabama, USA.

DFN: How or why did you pick your nick?
Multispeed Well first I must say , I'm really surprised that anyone would wanna talk to me! HAHA Or for that matter be interested in anything I would say! There are many that have been here longer than I and are much more interesting. I'm very honored to be asked! As for the nickname, I was using a nick that was taken by someone else more prominent at the time. So as I pondered what to use as a nickname that wasn't used by someone else, I went to backup a few designs on CD-RW and saw the words multi speed on the label for the CD case. I merged the two words together and got Multispeed. Silly isn't it?

DFN: How often do you try new building ideas, or using new sponsors?
Multispeed I try something new every day. I always try to make something fresh and different to see what the response will be. If all else fails, I can always go back to the familiar, but they seem to work less and less with the newer people that are getting into this business with fresher ideas and better technology.

DFN: And how often do you build new sites?
Multispeed I'm building something new every day. I use every possible script and language to try to come up with something different or shocking. The lifeblood of this business is having something the competition doesn't have. After all, this is a business. And a note to newbies: you must think of it that way, not just a pastime.

DFN: How many hours a week are you able to put into your business?
Multispeed Time is relative. How much time do you think Ross Perot spent to get his business where it is? However, I don't let it take over my life, just most of it. Ha Ha.

DFN: Do you do everything by hand? or do you use some scripts to automate your work?
Multispeed It depends on what I am trying to accomplish. There are some things that are just not possible to do by hand. Photo editing, design, layout can be done more quickly with scripts than by hand. But, in most cases, they are edited by hand and always load and run faster after you cut out the fat. Currently, I'm trying to learn OpenGL 3-D graphics. I think this is going to be the wave of the future. After all, Windoz became the number 1 used operating system for pc's by supplying a gui (graphical user interface). So graphics is not only the future, it is also what is most used now, by Joe Surfer! So if they are comfortable with that, give it to them. For those few who read my articles on graphics I'm sure your shocked! Multi and Graphics!

DFN: Do you have any tips for us on how you stay focused and organized working for yourself?
Multispeed I was 6 years Air Force, they instilled a degree of discipline in me. I've always been entrepreneurial as well. My first company built and repaired furniture. My next company laid stone. The stone business led me to computers which laid the foundation for my current business. The best thing to remember is just think of this as a second job, it needs as much attention as any other and it is alway's demanding, but this can be more lucrative, and way more fun. The people you meet in this industry are amazing! They show and, for me,push you to do better! But will help you get to where you wish to go, give you the info you need, and show you how to do it! Can you beat that? So at this point I must say hi to LadyB for having as much patience as she had to put up with me! Hi LadyB. Thanks!!

DFN: Can you touch on how and why you got involved into this industry, and how long you have been doing it?
Multispeed Well how is kind of funny, because I started doing networking for a friend for free. Then I began to wonder not just how to connect the computers, but what they said to each other. That led me to html and the best place to learn how to do it. And here I am. I've been involved in the industry for 13 months, and seem to be getting better, thanks to all for the help.

DFN: Can you give a brief background on your history in this business, and where do you see yourself in one year and several years from now?
Multispeed As to background, I've gone from as green as the spring grass to doing a few commercial sites and well on my way to developing a decent site. I see myself going more towards a gui that is more "Joe Surfer" friendly and making it successful. And as for several years from now, I see myself on a beach with a laptop and several naked women serving my drinks. Ha Ha. Wenchy.

DFN: What area in terms of site building do you specialize in, if any?
Multispeed Well, right now I have 2 TGP's and Mr. Boo has graciously allowed me to help with his project for Shemale-TGP.com. So I guess I am involved mostly in TGP's. However, I have tried pretty much all of them. And still build galleries too! So I understand how it can be tough to do good traffic building projects that make money!

DFN: What do you consider to be your strengths in this business?
Multispeed I guess I am best at design, layout, and "Surfer" friendliness. However, I suggest to all the newbies to become an inch deep and a mile wide in all areas when it comes to this business, because you can't learn it all just what works, and how to do it!

DFN: What is the best advice you were given when you were first getting started in this industry and what advice could you give a newbie just starting out these days?
Multispeed HAHA, Well it's hard to say what was the best, cause I've gotten so much! And get more every day! But I guess it was never quit learning, and what you know is true today, is only true today!

DFN: What do you think the worst thing going on with future of our industry right now? ...and what is the best?
Multispeed As to the worst,I guess it would be that no one has stepped forward to lead this industry. I mean there are the few that work to fight "Uncle Sugar" doing regulatory control but most think it's just what can I get away with , rather than how can I make this self-regulated! After all we know what works so why not stop the ones that are willing to kill this industry to make what they can and as quick as they can, before the knock on the door!
Now for the Best! This industry is loaded with people that will help you any way they can! Most here are so willing, they will tell you things that most don't want you to know! And all seem to have the newbies best interest at heart, so this is the place where the future starts.

DFN: And finally... do you have a URL you want to plug?
Multispeed Easy Web Girls
