My Newbie
Two Cents Worth

This week officially started the X-mas exchange NPOW. Last year’s x-mas exchange NPOW was the first community project I participated in and I truly believe it was the turning point in business career and the jump start I needed to get on track. I was a brand new newbie - I had only started to learn html and I had found VNWR about four months prior - I didn’t even have a community tag, when I saw last years post for the X-mas exchange NPOW.
At first I didn’t even consider it - I‘m too much of a newbie - or so I thought, but there was a lot of excitement about it. It was about this time I was starting to think seriously about where I was going with “all of this”. I was just beginning to understand this is a business and that I needed to make some decisions. I knew that if I decided to continue, I would have to participate. I remember being so nervous - I waited until almost the last minute to send my email. I knew this was a commitment, it’s a group project and my part is important. I had all the newbie fears. What if its not good enough? What if I can’t do it? What if my exchange pal doesn’t like it? I remember my heart was pounding , and before I knew it the email was sent. - It was one of the best business decisions I’ve made - but didn’t know it at the time.
The niche I chose for that NPOW was very new to me. I had just been “introduced” to it, so I thought it was be a good one to use. I really didn’t know how to approach it and I thought using it in the project would be a good way to see how others approached it. It was a good way to look at it - but I had to laugh when I had to build a site for a niche that I was even less familiar with. I don’t know why, but I just assumed the site I was going to build was going to be in a common niche - something I was comfortable with. Well - as my grandma used to say “In for a penny, in for a pound” I had some work ahead of me. The sponsor I would be using was not one I was signed up with (quite frankly I didn’t even know it existed)and at this point I had been promoting maybe 3 sponsors and I was reluctant to sign up with any others. (newbie thing there - I felt I couldn’t manage any more than that! lol) Voltar encouraged me to sign up with them, which I attempted to do, but they were updating the site and it took thee days before I could finally get a look at the site, banners and all. I remember feeling I was already three days behind!
But it all worked out and I had plenty of time to finish without rushing, and I found a new sponsor. I learned a lot from that project, some of it from the onset, and some throughout the year.
