Cow Tipping

Hot Slut's Links

Did you know that there is some weird stuff out there? The thing is, there are people who like that stuff. And, furthermore, they don't see it as weird. But... how do you sell it, if you're not into it? If you can sell it, you can make a whole lot of money.

First, you don't market it as "weird." You present it as if you're into that sort of thing, whatever it is. How do you do that? Talk to people who are into that "weirdness." Try to learn as much about each niche as you can. As for myself, I don't do vanilla. Why would someone want to look at another bunch of nekkid pics? I have no idea... but I do make money from sites featuring nekkid pics.

Take, for example, a BBW site. I've seen any number of sites that basically say "ewww, ick!" The sites were undoubtedly created by guys with "no fat chicks" stickers on the windows of their pickup trucks. He's marketing to the wrong segment... do you think he's made a favorable impression on someone who likes BBW pictures? And, who is going to click through to that site or gallery? One who likes BBW, or one who does not? Which one of those do you suppose would actually buy a membership? A site title of "Oinkers" might not be the best approach. The same is true for ebony. Why would anyone who is attracted to beautiful, erotic ebony women click on a link that advertised it's women as "skanky black ho's"?

This seems obvious for BBW and ebony, but what about BDSM? There are subtleties that will tell an interested person, whether you know what you're talking about, or not. How do you learn to portray the difference?

Two weeks ago Old Tom and I had the pleasure/pain of attending a bdsm workshop. It was held in a large hotel. They had one of the big convention rooms turned into a dungeon and two smaller meeting rooms for workshops, vendor sales, etc. There were about 250 kinky people in attendance.

The dungeon was great! They had several large X-crosses for people to be tortured on, spanking benches, special areas for wax and needle play, a piercing station, a large metal framework set up for bondage scenes, a medical area with real examination tables and various medical torture devices, lots of open areas so that the swinging of the single-tails and bull whips wouldn't be a problem, and a small section set aside for age play. For me the weekend was wonderful, three days of being surrounded by kinky folk and soaking up the atmosphere.

Everything was familiar. I understood everything I saw even though some of what was going on is not my particular kink. I understood what others were getting from it and could enjoy watching them enjoying themselves.

It was Halloween weekend; everyone was dressed up in their most outlandish fetish wear. Leather was everywhere, lots of nekkid flesh showing, Dominatrix and submissives, Masters and their slaves, leather dykes and schoolgirls and crossdressers with beards, trannys and gay men, young people in their early 20's and a couple of old guys who had to be pushing 80. It was amazing! I imagined Voltar having a field day going from person to person turning them into his special kind of text links.

There was only one thing that made me uneasy. In the back of the great dungeon, in the corner, roped off until Sunday... they had set up a barnyard. It had a fence and bales of hay and cages. There was to be a petting zoo, complete with puppies, ponies, stallions, and yes, even cows. It made me a bit nervous, I didn't understand this kink at all. I could not figure out what anyone could get out of being treated like a farm animal, much less why their "trainer" could possibly want to play out this fantasy. But I did want to see it. I want to learn everything I possibly can about what it is that turns people on. I don't want to try them all out, but if I am going to sell things, I need to know what I am talking about.

Sure, I could go on to tell you about the naked cows getting tipped, but would it matter? Would you really "click here" to see it for yourself? Perhaps not. But if you can present it through the eyes of someone who's really into that sort of thing, you can guide them to the right home on the web which meets their needs. That's what this business is all about. You are selling fantasies here!

Meanwhile, Old Tom and I will be out this weekend, conducting more BDSM research. Canes and chains and Brats... Oh My!
