Here is some news for all of you, about percentages of surfers who are on high speed access.

This is from this months issue of Forbes. According to it, high speed access is stuck in a slow lane, surfers just don't want to pay the higher prices and isp's just don't want to foot the bill for the high tech stuff that is now available. That technology would make the internet connections for the surfer much faster than what they are now even at high speed access basically households with computers on the net.

In the US... about 11% have high speed access (take into account business and webmasters and you have a very low number of surfers on high speed, majority by far around 90% are still on dial up).

In the UK... about 1.8 percent have high speed access.

In France... about 2.3% have high speed access.

In Japan... about 6.7% have high speed access.

Korea and Canada have higher percentages but far far fewer households connected to the net.

Just goes to show you, if you are using flash and heavier stuff on your sites, those things load like molasses for the vast majority of surfers, and you are losing money.

Hhmm... wonder who's been saying this for some time now.

Build for the dial up surfer, he's your meat and potatoes people! :)

The others time just isn't here yet, they are predicting at least another 3 years or so from what I get from the article. Then the net will be 4-5 times faster than it is now for high speed users.
