Changing of the Guard

My how quickly things move sometimes! Barely two weeks ago I was asked to become assistaant editor of DFN Weekly. Today I write this as it`s editor. Our friend Magus who was anticipating a call to duty seems to have gotten that call sooner than expected leaving this position available to me. I gratiously accepted! We wish Magus all the best in his endeavors and hope to see him back full time with us very soon! And my hope is to continue the growth and success of the DFN Weekly in providing you the readers with information, insight, inspiration and a little fun for good measure!

Now while I may not be the most educated or prosperous adult webmaster with me I bring the more than 4 years experience I do have in this industry along with a background in arts and entertainment. I like creating and putting things together. A trait I think is inherent in all webmasters whether acknowledged or not. But without raw materials to work with hands sit idle.

I`ve said it before that the DFN Weekly is all of ours. A reflection of our space in the adult webmaster community and a voice that echos into the community as a whole. And in that respect we are eligible to be heard within it`s pages. I would encourage anyone of you so inclined to consider contributing by writing an article for us to print! And any webmaster who has been working in the business for even a short time should have something worthwhile to say by now. A triumph, a trial, a tribulation.

We have hosted articles from newbie to oldbie on subjects ranging in diversity from building ones first triple to server automation, constructing a toplist to targetting search engines among many more light hearted articles that let us reflect. But the common thread in them all is they come from experience regardless of level and have value for the reader. In that respect just about anyone could have something to contribute.

I understand not all people are articulate writers and in many cases it`s probably not even necessary but I just want to reiterate that your contributions are always welcome and appreciated!

And of course in closing I`d like to leave you with something of value. A little list I made that I like to call "The Un-Rules"!

The Un-Rules

  • More traffic does not mean more sales but it helps
  • Sales don`t neccessarily happen where the most traffic is
  • Sales don`t neccessarily come from the most recent efforts
  • Sales don`t neccessarily come from the most involved efforts
  • Powerful tools can be deadly in inexperienced hands
  • There are thiefs waiting to steal your bandwidth
  • A niche you don`t find appealing sells well for you
  • You don`t know what you need to learn but should know you need to learn it
  • If you built it and they come .. You`ve done something wrong
  • You`ll be glad you backed up

I look forward to all of us enjoying many great issues to come and hope the experience, both informative and entertaining, translates into more prosperity and and enjoyable webmastering for us all!

Until next time...Have a good one!
