Interview with EclectiXXX

DFN: This week's interview is with EclectiXXX.

Lets get the real basic stuff first...
EclectiXXX My name is EclectiXXX, I'm 29 and holding, and I live in Maryland, USA.

DFN: How or why did you pick your nick?
EclectiXXX Well, I like a little bit of everything, and I'm pretty good at a little bit of everything so I'm sort of an eclectic person.... The XXX is obvious...

DFN: How often do you try new building ideas, or using new sponsors?
EclectiXXX Not as often as I used to, WARNING to Newbies... Once you've been in this for awhile and start making money if you don't pay attention you may get real lazy!!!

I've begun looking at new sponsors now that can complement True Redheads and that's been interesting...

I love Voltar's NPOW's and try them as often as I can steal time for them.

DFN: And how often do you build new sites?
EclectiXXX I like to do them in batches so I may do 10-15 in a couple of day span then spend a month or so submitting them.

DFN: How many hours a week are you able to put into your business?
EclectiXXX I spend a good 40-60 Hours a week at it. I've stopped stressing over every little detail (Hint.. Stats DO NOT need to be looked at every hour...), so some weeks I ease off and spend more family time.

DFN: Do you do everything by hand? or do you use some scripts to automate your work?
EclectiXXX I do both. I build all my templates by hand and use scripts for TGPing (TGSW) For Site building I love using Arles Image Web Creator. They keep upgrading it and it just gets better and better. I use templates with it so I have complete control over how a site looks when it builds the pages.

DFN: Do you have any tips for us on how you stay focused and organized working for yourself?
EclectiXXX Check you bank account, that'll keep you focused...

DFN: Can you touch on how and why you got involved into this industry, and how long you have been doing it?
EclectiXXX I built my first "free" site in February 1999 and got my first domain in April 1999.

I got involved quite by accident. I had never even surfed for porn before then! I was building a website for a non-profit organization and had trashed my FTP program (FTP Leech) and couldn't find it on download.com so I went to a meta search engine (they were all the rage back then) and did a search on Leech. Well LOL I got a ton of Warez and Porn listings. I was intrigued with the porn stuff and started surfing it a bit until I stumbled across a free site that had a button on the bottom that said Webmasters Make Money! I clicked on it and it lead me to Truecash.com The rest as they say, is history!

DFN: Can you give a brief background on your history in this business, and where do you see yourself in one year and several years from now?

EclectiXXX I dinked around with my stuff till April of 1999 and stumbled across the Condom Project and that got me going and involved... I did free sites for about a year then started my Link Site, Sex Dragons, and met Timbo and started TGPing a bit.

A year from now I see myself getting ready to launch a multi-site partnership program just in time for the back to school crowd. I see True Redheads and a true mega redhead site and the flagship of my little empire.

Several years from now I still see myself doing this, but from a beach front house!

DFN: What area in terms of site building do you specialize in, if any?
EclectiXXX Like my nick denotes, I like to do a little bit of everything. Recently I've been collecting e-mail addresses and playing with some e-mail marketing.

DFN: What do you consider to be your strengths in this business?
EclectiXXX My major strength has to be my reputation. I don't cheat and I help whenever and wherever I can.

DFN: What do you consider your 3 best niches?
EclectiXXX Redheads redheads redheads... hahahaha.

No really, Redheads, BBW and Gay.

DFN: What is the best advice you were given when you were first getting started in this industry and what advice could you give a newbie just starting out these days?
EclectiXXX The best advice was to treat it like a "real" business and to network network network!

DFN: What do you think the worst thing going on with future of our industry right now? ...and what is the best?
EclectiXXX The worst thing is all the crap porn spam. It will kill us in the long run.

The best is the way we help each other to make more money.
