Change

We all know that change is inevitable. Sometimes we take the initiative and make the changes ourselves. Sometimes outside forces make changes for us. And sometimes, situations come together so change can happen.

Some days we get up and know that our lives are structured and set. But more often we end up dealing with 'crisis management'. How often is that the case where our business is concerned?

Traffic patterns change. Sponsors come and go. Business partners are made and lost. But what can we do to minimize the harmful changes?

I like to take a moment every so often and consider where I am in the business, and where I want to be. Who I am dealing with and who I want to be dealing with. This usually leads me to some very fine associations, (like VNWR) and very fine folks.

I know that I can improve my situation by continuing to grow with other successful webmasters. By successful I do not mean only those that are making big bucks, but also up and coming webmasters like yourselves who bring fresh ideas and energy to the mix.

Now, back to that change thing. Some years ago I was fortunate enough to serve my country in a manner that was exciting and fulfilling. I got to learn foreign languages, travel to distant lands, meet exotic people...... well, you know.

I have recently been invited back to again play in such manner. While the invitation was coached in non-commital terms, I feel the need to yet again serve in such a capacity, both for the need of our country, AND the need for self fulfillment.

With that in mind, I want to take this opportunity to let you know that over the next few weeks, my involvement in the business, as well as my service to the VNWR community will be diminishing. This is not a reflection on my desire to be here, but rather a change of focus to my upcoming duties. I am not leaving the business, but I will be ratcheting it down a bit.

I want to thank everyone I have worked with and all those that have helped me. You guys and gals are the best!
