Welcome to
The DFN Weekly

This week's article comes from all of us. We recognize that the tragedy affects more than just the United States of America... citizens of many countries lost their lives in the attack. In this, we grieve together.

This past week brought a week of sadness to our nation and most of the world. We shared a common bond that has united us, and that will serve us in the futures that we each share. My heart goes out to all who have loved ones and friends that were caught up in that act of cowardice. My prayers are with all of those who were murdered that day, and their family and friends.

To all the men and women in the armed forces across this nation and around the world that are about to engage in wiping this evil from our planet, I salute you and wish you God's speed and your journey to end this madness that has struck out at innocents and brought this destruction cleaving its way into all of our hearts. Have no mercy on this foe, as it is as pure evil as any has ever existed.

You have our thoughts and prayers with you always from all of us at VNWR, the DFN Weekly, and the WFA. God Bless America!

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the Sept. 11th tragedies and the rescue workers who continue to toil in the rubble. As our footsteps are heavier in shared mourning, let us square our shoulders back, hold our chins high and remain steadfast to live in freedom.

My heart and prayers go out to the families of the innocent people who lost their lives in the horrifying attack on the United Stated last week.

Our hearts are broken, but our spirit will never be. I think that the only things that we as individuals can do is to try to come to terms with what has happened, cherish the life that we do have and take nothing for granted, and most importantly, never forget.

To our brave military and military personnel world wide, who are now preparing to drive these evil terrorist from our world, I pray for your safety and wish you God's speed.

What can you say about what happened last week, I mean there are not words powerful enough to express the sorrow and pain felt for all those people and their families. There just isn't anything that can measure that loss.

I sit here with this helpless feeling in the pit of my stomach, "What can I do to help?". Americans came out in droves to give blood for the survivors that didn't come. I gave my last $20 to the fireman collecting donations; I have my red, white and blue flying everywhere I can. I still feel like I didn't help one bit, not even the slightest.

So what is left? Well, it's no shock to anyone at this point that we are at war, with whom and for how long remains to be seen. So I guess at this point all I can do is help the war effort, help America win this war. Now the question is what can an overweight middle- age man do to win the war? Plenty.

This is for sure a different type of war then we have ever seen in the past, as painfully evident by this past week's events. The whole purpose of that event was to strike fear into the hearts of Americans, and I'd say they did a damn good job of that. Bad guys 1 - Good guys 0. We are currently in the midst of our second battle. That battle is can we overcome that fear and return to our lives? If the answer to that is "yes", then we have evened the score. Bad guys 1 - Good guys 1. "No", is not an option.

So I tried to do my part this weekend and turned off CNN, rented three comedy movies to watch with my wife and picked up a couple of bottles of good wine. Will life ever be the same? No, it never will. As proof, all three of those movies had scenes of the New York skyline and the World Trade Center towers. That alone brought tears to our eyes and that feeling in the pit of our stomachs, but we choked them back and continued to watch.

I guess the bottom line is that the wine was smooth, my wife was fantastic as always, the movies were funny as hell and in fact we had returned to our life. Do your part and become a freedom fighter and show the world we are not afraid. The Strong, The Proud, The Brave. We Are American Freedom Fighters.
