Server/hosting requirements

A TGP can use a high proportion of server resources. Of course no 2 sites/situations will ever be the same. If you are planning to make a big TGP and are willing to put some money into it then I think the best thing would be to look around for a host which offers dedicated lines or a 40MB a month plan. If you are going to be using scripts make sure that your host supports SSI, CGI, Perl, PHP and SQL. Those will be required depending on the scripts which you choose to run your TGP.

Depending on your layout and the amount of visitors you get (you may only get 100-1000 unique hits a day for the first few months). This shouldn't require too much bandwidth, maybe 1-2 MB a day. When your TGP gets up to 10,000-100,000 bandwidth will start to cost quite a bit.

Depending on which scripts you use try to find a host which offers at least two MySQL databases. Two of my favorite scripts use SQL and I highly recommend them as the ones to use.

I have used a few hosts and have found http://www.cyberwebhosting.net to be the best. It's a small company compared to some of the bigger hosting companies out there, but the level of tech support is beyond anything I have ever experienced.

Getting Started

I strongly advise basing a TGP on a particular niche/theme. Try to think of a niche which you are able to sell well. At the moment I would also advise not to base a TGP on the teen niche as there are currently too many free teen sites on the net. Try to think of a niche which hasn't been over exposed and content is quite hard to find on the internet. Maybe a site dedicated to pantyhose, pregnant, BBW, mature or spanking. This will help to get bookmarkers to your TGP and it will also make it easier to get signups from sponsors. I have received a few e-mails from other general TGP owners asking what sponsors work the best for TGP's. When I had my general TGP I found it very hard to sell a particular site as the traffic wasn't targeted.

Ok, so you have a host ready to roll, the next step is to acquire a catchy domain. A TGP relies on bookmarkers so try to find a domain which is short and describes the content of the site well. This will also help in the SE's. If you make an TGP based on the anal niche try to find an available domain which contains the word "anal".

If your having trouble finding a good domain check out http://www.deleteddomains.com. You can find some awesome domains from that site which are either expired or waiting to be purchased.

Choosing a CJ Script

There are now many CJ scripts available on the market. I will go through all the scripts which I feel are worth a look. Some scripts are quite expensive and some are free. The higher priced a script is doesn't specifically mean it is better.

CJ Ultra is in my eyes the best free CJ script available on the net. It runs using MySQL and PHP. It is a very fast script and build/manages trades very nicely. It has the best features available for a free script. The script allows you to link skim, trade traffic based on productivity, catch cheating sites (IMG Src) and contains a handy blacklist tool. I used version 1.0 of the script which I found to be better then the new 1.2 script but version 2 is going to be released soon with even more awesome options. The script is free and of course the maker of the script gets something for making the script. One percent of all unique out clicks go to one of his sites. I think that is a respectable price to pay for such a nice script. The script is very easy to install as long as you have the required information to set up the script at hand. You will need to have a spare empty MySQL database set up. Your host should be able to make this or you should be able to do it through Telnet or an admin interface.

This is the CJ script everyone wants on their shopping list, it is the best of the best! The majority of top TGP & CJ sites on the net use this script to handle the trades. The script is written in the programming language C which is extremely fast. The script can handle 100's of thousands of hits a day using minimal server resources.

The admin interface is a little messy when first looked at but once you get used to the layout of things you will soon realize why you paid the money for the script. The script has the ability to trade based on productivity or Raw hits, it contains a 100% configurable toplist which uses CRON to update once an hour which means it causes very little server load. The script allows you to send out hits through link skimming or permanent links. The script also allow you to use group links. This is a great feature to increase your productivity rate on other sites as you can group together all your anal trading sites and then all your general fetish trading sites and send different traffic to each. That link will take a surfer to a site marked as an anal site in the admin by yourself. The script currently costs $600. In my opinion it is worth every cent. It may be a wise choice to build up traffic using a free script first though so you are able to use this script to its full potential.
