Interview with Freak

DFN: This week's interview is with Freak.

Lets get the real basic stuff first...
Freak My name is Freak, I'm 32, and I live in Georgia, USA.

DFN: How often do you try new building ideas, or using new sponsors?
Freak I used to try new sponsors and ideas all the time, but it got to the point where I was always wanting to start and try something new, which left me with a lot of things that were never completed. New things pop up in this biz almost EVERY day, and I found it was more important for me to focus my attention on the tried and true most of the time.

DFN: And how often do you build new sites?
Freak More often than I build "old" sites...hehe

DFN: How many hours a week are you able to put into your business?
Freak 400,000!! Okay, so it only seems like I put in that much time. Consider that this is my only source of income and I sit at this computer every waking hour of every day. You do the math :)

DFN: Do you do everything by hand? or do you use some scripts to automate your work?
Freak By hand? Hell no! I want to get it done before the end of the next century. I use several scripts to help me maintain and update my many tgp's and link list....plus I use DreamWeaver to build most of my html pages. I should mention though, that I started out building by hand, so I do know what I'm looking at when I have to edit by hand....I just prefer not to edit by hand unless I have to.

DFN: Do you have any tips for us on how you stay focused and organized working for yourself?
Freak Not really. I follow one simple rule...which is to not work if I don't feel like working. I know that sounds like I'd never get anything done, but the fact is, if I'm not into what I'm doing, I'm not accomplishing very much anyway, so my time is better spent doing other things. I have even taken up a few new hobbies that I can pick up at any time and spend a few minutes here and there doing things away from this computer. It allows me to shift my focus onto something else, and many times it results in a renewed vigor and new ideas.

DFN: Can you touch on how and why you got involved into this industry, and how long you have been doing it?
Freak

I have just completed my 3rd year, and probably my most productive summer yet. I started out with a simple desire to learn how these web pages work. I taught myself how to write html and then built several personal web pages at places like Angelfire and GeoCities. After 4 or 5 different versions of those, I started thinking that maybe I could make some money if I built adult sites. I had been surfing adult sites since I first got online in 95, so I had a pretty good idea of what was available and how to get started for free.

DFN: Can you give a brief background on your history in this business, and where do you see yourself in one year and several years from now?
Freak I started out building free sites on free hosts, but soon picked up my own domain name and tried that classic rookie mistake....a paysite.

After about 6 months of pouring money down the drain trying to make a go of it with a paysite, I started building free sites again, and finally started making money.

I started my link list next, then a pic-post and finally a tgp....all of which are still up and running.

I attended the Sept. 2000 Inter-Next show in New Orleans, and followed that up with the Jan. 2001 show in in Las Vegas, where I had the pleasure of meeting many of the wonderful people I had been working with for so long.

DFN: What area in terms of site building do you specialize in, if any?
Freak If I had to pick just one, I'd have to say TGP's. I've made money with free sites and avs sites, but nothing compared to what I've done with TGP's.

DFN: What do you consider to be your strengths in this business?
Freak Stamina! I'm like a bad cold, I just won't go away...hehe

DFN: What do you consider your 3 best niches?
Freak Amateur, Mature & Tits

DFN: What is the best advice you were given when you were first getting started in this industry and what advice could you give a newbie just starting out these days?
Freak The best advice I was given was that this isn't a "get rich quick" scheme. It takes time and a lot of hard work to make a go of it. The best advice I can give a newbie is to never give up!

DFN: What do you think the worst thing going on with future of our industry right now? ...and what is the best?
Freak The worst thing I see is all of the free membership and free password ads plastered all over the place. How can we expect to sell memberships when we smother our surfers with oppotunitites to get the same stuff for free? Free should be a last ditch effort....after EVERYTHING else has failed. The best thing we have going in this biz is the American war on terror. I know, I know....that sounds bad, but the focus is no longer on us perverted porn peddlers, but on the 80 y/o grandmother in the airport with a pin in her hair and the nail file in her purse. Sad, isn't it?

DFN: Any additional insight you would like to give on being an adult webmaster?
Freak When you compare this job to any other.....don't. This is unlike anything else you will ever do in your lifetime! :)

DFN: And finally... do you have a URL you want to plug?
Freak Thumbfreak
