The DFN Lounge

Editors Note: Below is a post by Pasta made on the board this week, after the tragic loss of his son. We at the DFN & VNWR share in your pain, and hope this small tribute helps you and your family on your journey. Peace be with you.

We buried my son today...

My wife wanted me to share this with my Porn Buddies...:)

This was written By one of Kenny's teachers.....

Where is Kenny?

Over the past few days, I set out on a mission to find out where I could Find Kenny.

I found kenny in a friend who benefited from his comfort during the 9/11 disaster. When her father was missing, Kenny was the strong shoulder that reassured the family and stayed with them until the father was found safely.

I found Kenny among a group of children he taught karate. In their drive to succeed, their laughter, their carefree attitude, their smiling faces, Kenny was there.

I found Kenny in the hallways and in the cafeteria of NRHS. Surrounded by friends, flirting with girls, taking the dare to drink water from his sneaker, I know I saw Kenny in the faces of the laughing group of kids.

I found Kenny sitting next to me every eighth period during my hall duty. As we shared our future dreams, weekend plans, daily activities, workout tips, the usual jokes and stories, and the rating of girls as they walked by, I know I just didn't have a student next to me, but a friend as well.

I found kenny peddling slices of pizza during one of SADD's infamous pizza sales. He walked around the entire school explaining to people why they needed to buy the slices. I also found him later, laying on the table in my office, since he ate the slices we didn't sell.

I found Kenny and one of his sidekicks at Costco buying cookies muffins and candy for our many fund raisers. In his leadership, and ability to accomplish the clubs goals on a minutes' notice, he exemplified to all the students what a club officer should be. I also found Kenny among the laughter that ensued after they dropped all the cookies, and sold them anyway.

I found kenny in the SADD meetings, in the committies he formed, the paper work he helped me fill out, the hundreds of candy grams we delivered and even the lectures he gave me on being unorganized, an the need for me to clean my office. I found his words echoing in my head "G you gotta clean this office, man. Someones gonna get lost in here." I also found Kenny in the faces of the members of SADD, In their committment, and their results, which came because Kenny helped motivate them.

I found Kenny in his smile.

I found Kenny in the words: reliable, friendly, generous, loyal, considerate.

I found Kenny in the hearts of his family. I found him in movies, rides, shopping trips, and jokes he shared with his close friends. I found him in the presents he would personally bring to his grandmother on her birthday. I found him in the faces of his family members. And I found him in the hearts of the hundreds of people who knew and loved him.

In closing, I'd like to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much, to win the respect of people and the affection of children, to find the best in others, to leave a world a bit better, to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Kenny you have succeeded...
