No-Content Sales

Huh? What do you mean by that?

Well, Once upon a time, in the ancient past as relates to the Internet, one could make up a page with a bunch of banners and text links. Then these 'banner farms' would be submitted to search engines and directories and most often be listed. Hot and heavy paydays were the result.

Then came the 'traffic' folks who set rules as to what would be listed and webmasters, as a general rule, started designing galleries and free sites along those guidelines.

Today we still tend to consider the rules of whoever owns whatever in order to get our stuff listed. And we can see that the future 'may' hold even more such restrictions.

I know this is a very abbreviated history but you get the idea.

So how can we use a similar model of 'No-Content' pages today? You can include hybrid FPAs in your site matrices, high ratio of ads versus links on a modified 'hub' design and many other ways to sneak in a page that is designed to make money.

You may recall a short article I wrote concerning documenting what you do. It addressed the need to know to whom something was submitted in order to analyze traffic/sales results. Since the experiment was focused on Search Engine effect rather than sales I was pleasantly surprised to have good sales results on pages that have virtually NO CONTENT!

This leads me to the next things I would like to do.

Firstly, I encourage everyone to take a few minutes and 'brain storm' making a list of ways to have no content sales. Forward that list to me, magus@vnwr.com and I will consolidate it and produce a DFN article as well as a Newbie Tutorial. (All participants will be cited)

Another thing I would like to do is expand that original experiment. It is still a Search Engine traffic project, but the sales results made it a viable use of resources. So, what I am looking for are some partners. These partners need their own hosting, virtual or dedicated that allows index.shtml as the primary index page in a directory and stats reports to avoid counters on the pages (they are traffic leaks you know lol). Very little disk space or bandwidth will be used. Basic ftp skills are a must. SE optimization skills highly sought. If you are not an affiliate of the target sponsors, you will not be required to join under anyone in particular, but I will recommend signing up under the board links to show them VNWR does make a difference. It matters not if you have 5 years of Internet experience or 5 weeks, but all concerned need to know that confidences must be honored. The idea is to share results and make adjustments, so above all, professional, ethical webmasters are the key. That is why I feel VNWR is the ONLY place such a project can succeed.

There will be some initial submissions as well as ongoing submission updates, but I feel the time requirements after initial upload will be very small. Routine reports between participants are a must. And I will provide a consolidated report as well as updates here in the DFN. I think that 5-7 participants is a good place to start. As we all get comfortable, additional folks can join the project. This is not MLM, or any other type of program that relies on a pyramid hierarchy to make money.

This could be a lot of fun……
