Building Webmaster Friendly Sites For Profit

No Bullshit Porn Links

There are two camps of thought present in the online porn industry, the "Surfer Friendly" and the "Webmaster Friendly".

In the "Surfer Friendly" camp, the lunatics are in charge of the asylum, so what happens is that they end up giving the store away for free. Unfortunately for the industry, most Thumbnail Gallery Posts (TGPs) and Link Lists (LLs), especially the older more established ones (ie: the ones with ownership of most of the traffic) belong to this camp. Because of surfer demands, they are requiring webmasters to submit galleries and free sites with ever-more free content, more restrictions on what can be included (ie: full page ads, consoles, blind links & etc) and fewer sales ads.

When you recognize in your own mind that this is a business, a BIG business, then you have to know that the "Webmaster Friendly" camp has to prevail in order for the industry to stay healthy. You must understand, however, that "Webmaster Friendly" does NOT mean using trickery, fraud or cheating! No, your reputation is your most valuable asset in this business and using those negative means to earn a quick buck will make you persona non grata very quickly.

So, what does "Webmaster Friendly" mean? It means being able to use all the tools available to you in order to make the sale, while giving away the least amount of free content possible. What is considered to be a standard "Webmaster Friendly" free site today would consist of four pages, index - main - gallery 1 - gallery 2, with a full page ad between the index and main pages, full-size pics on html pages and a single entrance or exit console.

This site would be considered VERY Webmaster Friendly ... in fact, most "normal" link lists would not list it: AMATEUR NIGHT

You will note that there are a lot of 'outbound links' (sponsor ads) and only 10 sample pics. Another example would be this one: BURNING DESIRE

These would be submitted to selected Webmaster Friendly link lists, 'spidered' search engines or linked off your own internal hub(s).

Here is an example of a generally Webmaster Friendly site that would be accepted at most Link Lists, except for the most extreme "Surfer Friendly" ones: WET 'N WILD

Didn't get a chance to submit your sites to last weeks LTS? Good news, the LTS list is now stored in the VNWR Resource section. Check it out!

You will note that there are only 20 mainly softcore pics. It is important, to you and to the health of the industry, that you use the absolute minimum number of pics that will allow you to get listed at as many Link Lists as possible, as well as only using softcore. Tease the surfer with your free pics, but tell them if they want the 'real stuff', they have to sign up to the sponsor.

It is generally accepted that you can have 3 outbound links (sponsor ads or links to internal hubs/filters) per page. Make the sponsor ads fairly large, with the gallery pages having the main sponsor ad right dead center so that it is the most noticeable part of the page. NEVER place all the thumbs in one block on a page! Break them up with an ad so that the surfer can't just look at the thumbs without looking at an ad as well. Also, always try to have text ads at the top of every page so that the surfer has something to read while the rest of the page is loading.

There are, unfortunately, Link Lists that will demand more than 20 pics, will decline your submission because the pics are too softcore and/or will limit you to only 2 outbound links per page. They'll also tell you that you can NOT use full page ads, consoles, mouseovers or html pic pages. The bottom line is, these places do not have your best interests at heart. They only want you to supply them with free content for their bookmarkers to look at, at your expense, with little chance of making a sale.

To recap, the Webmaster Friendly tools available to assist you in making sales, but still allow you to get listed at many places, are:

- use the minimum amount of free pictures that will enable you to get listed
- use softcore pictures as much as possible
- place full page ads between the index and main pages
- place full page ads on the outgoing links to hubs/filters inside your site
- use mouseovers to hide sponsor code and entice the surfer to click
- place a small exit console (pop-up) on the index page (just one!)
- have at least 3 ads that can make you money or get you traffic on each page
- break up the thumbs so that there is an ad showing at all times
- place an ad, preferable all text, at the top of each page
- use html pages to display the full size pics with sponsor links above/below the pic

Remember, this is a BUSINESS. You are in this business to make MONEY. You are NOT here to supply unlimited quantities of FREE hardcore porn to surfers. Now, go get 'em Tiger!!
