We’re heading into the tail end of summer now and the first day of school is in 28 days (but who’s counting? lol). It really hasn’t been too bad this summer. I’ve been able to work in longer stretches of time, but there’s nothing like the quiet when the kids are in school, a regular schedule and a routine.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the adult business and I really enjoy what I do. I’ve learned more than I ever thought I would, sales are steady and growing, my hours are as flexible as I need them, I’ve made new friends and I’m just having a good time. In this business you can work at your own pace, obviously there isn’t a boss hanging over your shoulder, but there are many distractions. I tend to work in spurts. I get very creative go on a build and submit binge, and then I spend time working on my internal structure. Then I find a new tool or program and spend time learning or doing that. I need to balance it all out, and that’s what I hope to achieve when I have more quiet time when school starts.

Every day I work on my business in some way, but what I set out to do is directly related to the amount of time I have. If I have an hour or so I can build a site and start submitting. If I have only about 15 minutes or so, I take the time to go through my server stats and take notes. I do what I can, when I can.

You’d be surprised what you can find in 15 minutes. I find some interesting things in my server stats. My stats show a list of terms people used to find my sites, and I use some of these terms to build sites. I’ve seen some strange terms lately and I search the terms in google.. I can’t believe where some of my sites are listed. We build our sites to target certain keywords, but I was amazed at the words that are picked up on a site.

This little exercise gave me a better understanding of just how unpredictable search engines and people can be, and just how far outside my keywords my site has been listed. One of my sites was in the top 10 listings for hotels in Morocco, because of a combination of words, one of which was in the warning. There are NPOWs geared toward finding traffic in the least likely places, but this wasn‘t planned. I add a keyword rich line or two to my warnings for a little boost - I wasn’t trying for a listing in a totally unrelated topic, but it sure was a pleasant surprise. This person wasn’t looking for a hotel in Morocco hoping to find porn, he was looking for a hotel in Morocco, saw my site and clicked on it (it was the only porn site listed there.) If it happend once it can happen again - I wonder how many other untapped places there are out there? :) I’m going to make that NPOW a priority! I’ve also noticed people are using sentences to find what they are looking for. One such sentence described a sexual preference and what he wanted done. And another read “I’m a guy looking for horny wives email addresses.” I’m going to keep the sentences in mind I’m when building sites. Imagine that, surfers giving us ideas that we can use to sell them porn. I feel a build and submit binge coming on.

I’ll eventually find a better balance in my work routine and I’ll be a little more organized, but until then, I do something everyday to build my business - even if it‘s going through my server stats looking for sentences.
