Marketing To The Older Generation

Sex Story

I know my title is possibly something that appears to be somewhat of a joke but are we as webmasters marketing to the older generation. If countries worldwide have started courses for the older generation like they have in Australia then you will find that many of our surfers are possibly in their late 50's 60's or even 70's. These men and women will not have had computers at school so they are late learners and so therefore we should be marketing to them also.

These men and women have finally found the Internet. They own credit cards and they still get off on porn. How do I know? I work in the adult industry offline seeing clients of various ages and most of them want to know what I do in my spare time. When I tell them that I build websites, write articles, sex columns and erotic stories they become very interested and want to know more.

Some of my regulars who are in their 60's and early 70's keep telling me that they are sometimes interested in looking at "hot babes" dressed short skirts, but that is something that they can only fantasise about. What most of them really like doing is reading erotic stories. They like to be able to print off the stories and read them, some will read them online but some who have poor eyesight and find it difficult focusing on the text online will definitely print it off so they can then read it when later.

How do we make it easier for the aging population to purchase a membership into our sponsor sites? Try using a font that is easy to read, preferably Arial or even Verdana. I've seen a lot of sites that love to use font size 3 on their sites.

"When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong."
R. Buckminster Fuller (1895 - 1983)

I for one find that sometimes hard to read depending on the font that the Webmaster has chosen, so if I have that problem how many potential members do also? A lot of newbies go out of their way to make their sites look "pretty" by using a "script font" of sorts that is very hard on the eyes no matter what size you look at it. Be realistic when designing any site but in the back of your mind think of those who have poor vision and a lot of the time this will include the elderly who have the money to spend (self retirees) so make it easy for them to know where to click that link so they can purchase a membership to which site you are promoting. Colours can also be hard on the eyes… so if you have a pale blue background for instance and make your links red instead of encour aging surfers to click they will have no idea what is behind that link cause it will be too hard to read…

When it comes to providing for all surfers include a link to hot erotic stories so those that decided all pics are not for them, they have erotica to keep them occupied for hours. If you build AVS sites or membership sites try to include erotic text, anything that is a draw card for you as a Webmaster certainly has to be a bonus…

I've always worked on the saying, "think outside the box" and you will succeed.

Before I finish… I've found that it's not only the older generation who love reading, many members of my site love the exclusive erotic stories Steve and I provide…. One serial in particular was so good that we had many requests from members to "hurry up and right the next chapter!" I for one believe that sex stories help to lure surfers into buying a little piece of erotica… Pictures are good, but bedtime stories are something else….
