What Is a Meta Refresh?

This is a simple but effective tool that each webmaster should have in their templates.

Basically a Meta Refresh is a metatag to automatically redirect the web browser to some page or better yet a particular sponsor after a predetermined amount of time in seconds.

Remember the Uni Sites NPOW. Bug Voltar if its not up in the Past NPOWS This is what it was all about linking your sites to a sponsor page, with a zero refresh to the sponsor. Giving you a means of swapping codes, sponsors or just using a different banner. It was one of the Oh shit NPOWs we have done. Bug Voltar for the link to the Unisites NPOW.

The Meta Refresh Tag
<META http-equiv="refresh" content="10; URL=your url of choice">

A simple page is needed:

<HTML>
<
HEAD>
<
TITLE>Sponsor Redirect</TITLE>
<
META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="10;URL=your url of choice/">
</
HEAD>
<
BODY>
See Ya
</
BODY>
</
HTML>

Very simply you are telling the browser that after 10 seconds refresh/redirect to your url of choice. Thats it simple enough for a DFN to follow. Its a pretty powerful tag/tool when used wisely.
