This is part 3 in our toplist series. In Part one, Morgana discussed
finding and choosing toplists to submit your sites to - you can find Morgana's
article here, and last week,
Robbo talked about actually submitting your sites to toplists. You can find Robbo's
article here. This week I
am looking at how you can write effective web site descriptions, and also have a
look at making banners for inclusion on topsite lists.
So, you've spent an hour or so making a fantastic looking site with juicy sales
text links that you just know the surfers won't be able to resist clicking on.
Excellent! You've got a list of link lists and toplists that you can submit to as well,
and all that's left to do is the actual submitting. I must confess, I find submitting galleries and
sites to be one of the most tedious parts of webmastering. I know I'm not alone in feeling
this way either! However, the actual site submission process is very important to your
business' bottom line profit. The more places you submit to, the more potential visitors
your site will receive, and the more revenues you stand to earn. You can further increase
the number of people who click through to your site from link lists and toplists by ensuring
you have written a great title and site description.
How to write your title and description.
1. Be Accurate with both your title and description.
You will have already decided upon your site title. Make sure that you don't use the same title as the sponsor you
are trying to sell. Try to be original as well. For example, let's say you have created a
standard free site. Your content is upmarket babe type shemales posing, and you're selling a sponsor
that has a shemale babe type site. A good title might be something like 'Shemale Shaggers', or
'Tranny Temptress'. You don't have to use alliteration like I have in those examples, you can also
use words that create an illusion for the surfer. For example, 'Babelicious Shemale Whores'.
Now, treat your description like a headline opportunity. Most surfers will be skimming down the
listings and so you need to write something that is going to grab their attention and make them click.
It's probably worthwhile mentioning here that there is no point in writing descriptions that are
inaccurate. Sure, a surfer might click on your link if you tell them that you have 5 million free pics
and 250 hours of downloadable video for free on your site, but when they land on your site they're going
to see that you have lied big time, and if there isn't anything of interest to them on your site then they
will soon disappear. You don't get any sales, just some bandwidth burnt for your trouble. Also, make sure
that you don't use any illegal terms in your title or description. Surfers looking for that sort of material
are NOT the sort of surfers you want to be attracting. You want above board, credit card carrying adults
prepared to dust off their plastic for some adult entertainment.
2. Be Interesting. Compel the surfer to Click.
You need to 'match' the surfer to his/her area of interest or desire. Describe what is on your site honestly
but interestingly. Compel the surfer to find out more by arousing his or her curiosity. For example,
Babelicious Shemale Whores - free pics of naked chicks with dicks is accurate, but rather run of
the mill. Babelicious Shemale Whores - Wild Shemale Sluts Begging to be Banged Hard! is much more
interesting! Or, we can take a Lesbian Site for example. Lesbian Lust - Girl on girl tongue licking action
while not bad, could be a lot better; Lesbo Bed Limbo - Nimble Lesbian Lovers who Limbo to Lick Clit! is an
improvement :)
