As our industry moves continually towards a more business like operating model and mode, It's time we examine the business ethics in the adult webmaster business. Reputation is important to all of us in this business. The longer you are in the business the more your reputation grows. It is directly effected by the business ethics you show the world you have.

Our industy is filled with, well lets call it shameful behavior. Back stabbing, liers, thiefs, shaving, etc.. are among the things in our industries past. Some of it and the people involved in still exist today. An honest webmaster has to be wary of them, as they are the dieing breed. And as we all know, a trapped and wounded animal is the most dangerous to those close to them. So beware of those that fall in that catagory as the industry moves forward. But enough of them, back to the point of this article.

Watch what you do, how you do it, how you present yourself, and where you link to. All of these reflect directly on you and will stay with you for a lifetime as a webmaster. Here is a short list of some things as a webmaster that you can do to keep a good reputation and build one that will be known in the future as someone worth trusting in a business venture.

- Post to a webmaster board daily, even if just to say hello. People will get to know you from there.
- Don't post when you are mad. You can be taken as always a angry person and mistakes happen more easily when you post when you are mad.
- Be Positive
- Be Honest
- Realize this is your business and proper business manners should be presented from you at all times.
- If you don't know something, say that you don't know, no one knows everything.
- If you can help someone then do that.
- If you ask for advice, say thanks to the person who helped you.
- If you don't take advice given, still say thanks and explain you are going to try it another way first. You may find out that the way you think you want to go might have been done before and experienced advice at that time can save you possibly major dollars and time.
- Read and understand the rules at where you post at. They are there normally as much to protect you as they are to protect the community of the webmaster board and it's self.

- If you don't understand something, ask about it, politely.
- Politics and religon are almost never a good subject in the business workplace. Be wary of them.
- Never spam or deal with spammers.
- Never deal with illegal things, we all know what those are.
- Never copy another webmasters work, codes, or graphics, it is thieft.
- Always buy you content properly.
- Playing devils advocate has made more webmasters look the part of the fool than anything else, don't get caught up in that game publicly. Ask questions as it pertains to your business and don't worry about the things that effect 1 in 10 billion people type stuff. You will find when you consider things from your businesses point of view, you will keep your plate full.
- Stop giving away to the surfers so much free samples that they don't have to buy. That's what they want and chew the ears off of link type site owners for. They do not understand how this business works. As such thier opinons as surfers are never worth the few seconds it takes to hear them. They are the free loaders.
- Members are on the other hand worth listening to and paying attention to, they are the customers.
- Webmasters are the gold in the industry, it all revolves around the webmasters.
- Keep good business records.
- Keep steady business hours and routine, even if its midnight to 2 am as part of them.
- Remember where you learned from and who helped you in this business, as they to will remember you. This is how you often start networking with other webmasters.
- Do daily R&D.
- If you make a mistake, be the first to admit it. You lose alot more face and reputation if you don't face up to your mistakes.
- Keep an eye on and toe in the ebb and flow of the net.
- And as always, Build and Profit.

Hope this helps many of you as the future rolls on in our industy.
