Modular Websites

A Hooker's Free Porn

My youth was spent watching Scrooge McDuck outwitting the Beagle Boys and my adolescence was tied up with Green Lantern and his never-ending battle against evil. Perhaps that is why I just can't seem to grasp the ology that is behind toons, anime etc. I just don't understand them and it bothers me.

Perhaps not understanding the niche is a good thing because when I come across a site that deals with toons and anime I spend more time looking at the design than I do looking at the content.

Such is the case today where I am reviewing just such a free site. You can find the site here:

Even though I don't understand the niche the site design is more than enough to keep me interested because what I see here is a potentially different way of designing websites.

Now when I think of cartoons I often think of bright contrasting colors that are in your face and help set the theme. Such is the case on the index page of this site. Bright colors are used to set the theme and catch your eye as the page opens.

Despite the bright colors the advertising is still going to catch your attention. For a surfer looking for porn the sexiest thing on that index page is the banner and even though it sits in a bright background color it manages to stand out clearly.

Moving on to the main page, again it is the advertising that jumps off the page at you. The colors in the top banner draw the surfer's eye and once he is looking at them it is only a moment before he is reading the text as well.

"In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative original thinker unless you can also sell what you create. Management cannot be expected to recognize a good idea unless it is presented to them by a good salesman."

Even the text links are set in a color that the surfer will see while the rest of the text on the page is quite readable but doesn't draw the surfer away from the advertising.

The gallery pages are where the pages that I found to be the most interesting. Many webmasters look at a free site as a single cohesive, stand-alone unit. This site looks at the structure of a free site in a totally different way.

What I see when I look at this site is a series or modules that could be unplugged from this site and used in other sites. Some of them could even be used by themselves with out any further alteration.

Take those two gallery pages for example. There are 15 images on each and that means that what we have here is a free site with 30 images. Is that a waste? Are we giving away too much to the surfer?

In this instance I see it as quite acceptable because there is a trade off. Those two gallery pages can be 'unplugged' from this site and with absolutely no alteration (apart from adding recips) they become two TGP galleries that will get wide acceptance.

In the past taking a standard gallery page from a free site and turning it into a TGP gallery often meant adding an extra 5 pics and that is always going to take time. Obviously busy webmasters don't have a lot of extra time so here we see a way of saving time and achieving more in the time we do have.

I think it's time for me to go away and start thinking modular because there are some interesting challenges here.
