Seasonal Color Thoughts

We know that the outside conditions are different between summer and winter. But have you considered them when you build your free and AVS sites, your tgp galleries, or your search engine pages? Well, you should. You should ask yourself a series of questions involving the outside conditions. I'll touch on a few of those questions, to help you out as you build for more profitable sites.

  • Timing: When is the projected listing date of the site, search engine page or gallery? In other words how long from now do you project/guess it will be before you start to see the bulk of the short term traffic hit and the long term traffic pick up? This has a big effect on your stuff. After all, you wouldn't want to be selling your sponsors with an Xmas ad on Valentine's Day. Timing comes into play with all holidays. It also comes into play for how the outside weather is going to be at that time.

  • The big one here, is color, Meaning background colors and font and text colors. Sure basic black is ok... and in some cases exactly what you want. But think about the outdoors and how the weather is going to be. Hot or cold there are reasons why some colors combos work better.

Summer time: It's hot out. Big tittied bikini babes and gals in shorts so short they use to call them panties! Same thing, different story for the guys. It's a bright fun time of year. Nothing reflects the way the surfer is feeling better than a bright cheery site with a bright colored background, such as a white color. You are tapping into the emotions of the surfer to make him feel more comfortable with your site and sponsors. This type of selling is good! You reflect the fast paced summer life style with a quick loading graphic light website. Bright colors and positive message says volumes to the surfers and their summer habits.

  • Wintertime: BBbbrrr! it's cold outside! Surfers hate going out into the cold so they stay indoors and surf longer and not in such a rush. Darker colored sites then feel more at home and comfortable to them because they are not in the same hot rush of mega activities that they had during the summer. The dark colored sites match them looking out unto the gray wintery outdoors. It's a question of contrast. Don't let there be any when it comes to colors. Basically they are curled up in their own little universes and snug as a bug in a rug. Which means that the dark sites, black is a good example, fits them like a glove. It lets them get nestled all up in it and become part of it. It becomes part of their own little universe. It generates sales for you.

Now these are not to say you can't make sales otherwise. Of course you can! But in the mental debate in your head as to what you should do for the color of your next site or gallery, you will have an actual reason as to why you made the site a certain color, where before, if you were like most people, you just guessed at a color for the next site and went on to build it without much more thought into if the color could help you sale or not. Well now you can! You now have "some" reason as to why you build the site the color you are going to.

Have a nice and safe, profitable summer
