Wing Needs A Fix
My prediction came true (for once) and the Detroit Red Wings are the 2002 Stanley Cup Champions. I watched the live broadcast of the parade on the internet today, which was very cool to see 1.2 million people come out for this thing. Not to mention for once after a team has won a championship the city didn't erupt with violent partiers recking everything in sight. Other city's should learn something from Detroit's example of how to celebrate and party responsibly.
Hockey season is a long season without a doubt, 82 games to be played starting in October with the playoffs ending in late May or early June. Only the true fans of the game manage to watch and keep in tuned with the season as it progresses. The further the season goes on the more the fans get hooked. Just like a drug it slowly lures you in, giving you the instant gratification any junkie craves.
As each game passes the fan needs more and more hockey to satisfy their craving. First it's just a game or two on the weekend, then the next thing you know your buying the NHL package on the cable box. Upwards of 10 games a night, the perfect *fix* a hockey junkie needs to keep them going. Starting a 7 P.M. and going until the late game that starts at 10:30 P.M. ending in the wee hours of the morning.
