Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

We as humans are prone to find our comfort zone and stay within that safe realm for most of our lives. It's our own little happy place where no one can touch us; there is no risk, no uncertainty, and we like it that way.
The same can be said for our lives as webmasters/salespeople and the methods we go about trying to earn a living at it. It doesn't matter if you do this part time or full time you will at some point find a comfort zone and settle into it … and stay there.
It's not something you pick up on right away, because it is your comfort zone and you don't think about it. It just happens, before you know it your daily routine is the same day in and day out. For example: you create a free site or two each day and you submit a tgp page three times a week and you do your daily SE submits of those pages. Sounds familiar?
If it does you are both in a good position and a bad one, let me explain my madness for a moment. It is a good thing that you have a focused structured plan to follow everyday; this alone increases your chances of pulling in those sweet succulent fat sponsor checks. Now for the bad news, this will eventually lead to you falling into the dreaded comfort zone, and your creativity will dry up, blow away and have the net effect as writers block does to an author.
When we limit ourselves to "go with what we know" we run the risk of loosing our pants when the market shifts and the "go with what we know" has gone up and left. That can be financially devastating to people if they don't catch themselves soon enough. How many times have you heard about people saying they just scrapped everything and were going to start over? I know I have seen a few come through VNWR and state that very fact (which takes great courage to admit), they have all learned the value of staying "fresh".
