The Proof is in the Pudding
My Meeting with Voltar

By

Beran aka Barron

Some of you may know that I took sometime off for a trip to see Voltar last month. After posting to the board what a wonderful time I had, Jojasa asked me if I would write an article for the DFN about my trip. I thought about it and agreed, but recanting about the trip takes more explaining than just reciting events. A person needs or should at least understand that newbies don’t have a clue until some one explains it to them. Some one has to be the teacher. There are many knowledgeable people out there that are willing to help. But the person that pulls all these people together the best is Voltar.

Sponsors use free site owners as one of their many tools to feed them traffic. If the newbies try very hard to succeed but fail, then bail out of the business, sponsors will not have that valuable traffic. That is one reason why the sponsors seek out webmasters. They spend the money they do on advertising to support webmaster resource sites, including VNWR, so they can attract webmasters. Sponsors will do everything they can to help a webmaster to succeed, but VNWR takes that one step further by providing a place to learn the basics of generating traffic to send to the sponsors.

That is why VNWR is so important to the Adult Industry as a whole. Not only are the visitors to the board being taught by someone that has been a success in this business, but continues to build and be an active part. You can’t teach people how to do business if you aren’t keeping up with the industry. And Voltar does just that, continues to build and test new ideas so he, and the other people that visit the board can learn and be a success.

He can, and does, teach you everything he knows about the basics of what it takes for you to be a success in this business. He teaches everything from generating traffic, how to build sites, how to do graphics, how to move traffic around and how to sell your sponsors. He is here to teach you the basics. Once you learn the basics, he encourages you to move on. Take what you’ve learned and grow from it. In my short tenure, I have seen others do just that!

"Experience is not what happens to you. It is what you do with what happens to you. "
Aldous Huxley

Getting started in the adult business began with me making the worst decision of my life. Yes, the worst decision I ever made. About 7 years ago, more or less, a salesman came to the place that I was working for. He was selling my boss web space.

For whatever reason he engaged me in a conversation about making money on the web. I said, "How would a person do that, I don’t have anything to sell on the web"? He said, "You advertise other peoples stuff and they pay you 4 cents a click through". I said, "Four Cents! No thanks, I’ll pass". The internet was still new at the time and I couldn’t grasp why anyone in their right mind would ever think they could make any money doing that.

Then about two years later I meet a couple that had an adult amateur pay site. The husband was doing the marketing and his wife was doing the modeling. As he was showing me the site and telling me about how his business worked, I noticed some banners on his tour. I asked him why he had them there. I honestly couldn’t understand why anyone would advertise other people’s websites while trying to sell memberships to his own site.

He shrugged his shoulders and told me that he made about $50.00 a month off of each banner at 2 cents a unique. He had 6 banners up. That’s $300.00 a month. Then I asked, "What do you mean unique"? He then explained the difference between raw and unique. He didn’t care how much money he made because his main source of income was his own members site. But I remembered the conversation with the web space salesman. I remembered that I didn’t have a model to sell and would have to rely on the revenue from the banners. For all the trouble it took, $300.00 bucks didn’t seem like much money to me!

A couple of years went by before I got my first internet account. Can you believe it, I made the decision not to do an internet business and I hadn’t even seen it yet. Well, you can imagine that I was pleasantly surprised about all the information that I could get off the net! Then I found pictures of naked women. I said to myself, "This is too cool". So I surfed and surfed and surfed.
