Now Serving .. Round 2

Yes sir .. it is smack in the middle of round two of the playoffs. My eyes are bloodshot, I'm yawning during the day and my voice is hoarse from yelling at the television. It's funny how much of a similar a feeling it is to working on a triple triple triple.

Now it didn't take long for this seasons first triple overtime game. Game two of the series between Toronto and Ottawa was a hell of a game that took 6 periods to determine a victor. Gary Roberts pumped home the winning goal four and half minutes into the sixth overtime period. Toronto's win of game two tied the series up at one game each. This series has been nothing short of amazing to watch, two evenly matched teams giving it their all every game. It's what the playoffs are all about.

The Carolina and Montreal series has been equally as entertaining to watch. With the inspiring play of Saku Koivu, who is not only playing after recovering from Cancer this year but is really contributing with game winning goals. A coach only hopes his best players from the regular season can perform during the playoffs. Having a player overcome such adversity and drive the rest of the team is truly an inspiration.

On the West coast the Colorado and San Jose series seems more like a Friday night pond hockey tournament then the NHL Playoffs. More than the surpise that Colorado is down 2 games to 1 in the series is the scores of these games. Game 1 was a 6 to 3 ass kicking by San Jose, Game 2 was the reverse ass kicking by Colorado 8 to 2. Game 3 .. yep you guessed it ass kicking by San Jose 6 to 4. I'm shrugging my shoulders on this one.

The Detroit and St. Louis series seems to be going according to what would be expected. Detroit coming off a hot streak in round one took the first two games 2-0 and 3-2 and had St. Louis against the ropes. In a Game 3 the "must win" (overused term) game, St. Louis came out ready to play. The stomped the Wings 6-1 and carry some momentum into Game 4 on Thursday.

Keep your stick on the ice and put the puck on the net.
