Do or Die Time!

Well it's that time … time for the medal round of the Olympics hockey tournament. Time to toss out the number of wins, losses and points you must win to move on, period. I won't rant (much) about how I think that all the teams should have to play in the elimination rounds, rather then come in during the ranking round. I think the teams that are ready to plan in the medal round would be different. I hate to say it but I think the Canadian team would be watching from the sidelines at this point. Rant over.

Now the final line up's include the following match ups:

Quarterfinals Group 1
US Vs. Germany
Czech Republic Vs. Russia

Quarterfinals Group 2
Sweden Vs. Belarus
Canada Vs. Finland

My predictions will be the US over Germany by two goals, Russia over Czech Republic by a single goal for group 1. For group 2, the Belarus team by a goal over Sweden (since they have yet to lose a game) and Finland to blow out the Canadian team by three goals.

Several of these games will be over by the time the DFN goes to press, so we shall see how good (or bad) my predictions are. With any luck they will be entertaining games to watch and cheer on your favorite team!

"Photography..." continued from Page 4

7) Make your model feel comfortable. If your model doesn’t feel comfortable with you, your pics will suffer. This is more of a study in Psychology than photography I’m afraid, but it doesn’t hurt to touch on it.

Here’s a little technique that I’ve used and it really really works. It’s called *mirroring*... and here’s how it works. If you're working with a model that is kinda shy, a little introverted, soft spoken then *mirror* her personality and watch as she comes alive. People like REALLY relate to photographers who are like they are. So, if you become shy, soft spoken he/she will feel very comforted that you are like they are and only then can *magic* be created.

The same technique can apply to a loud, obnoxious and very outspoken kind of person. If you *mirror* that kind of personality, this person will feel very comfortable with you and you can then relate with them on their personality level and produce good work. Once again, try this, you’ll be amazed how this works!

I appreciate the opportunity to share with you some things that I’ve learned over the last 13 years of shooting photography and I hope that you have picked up a little something in the process. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about photography.

One thing that I love doing is sharing my knowledge and experience with those who are learning. There have been many great people who have done that for me in the past and I find that by helping others, I am paying back some of the kindness shown to me. Thanks a bunch!
