You see posts about shitty submissions. Having a link site is a lot of work, period! I must be an Asshole then! I made a deal with myself when I embarked on my second business, webmastering. The day that I couldn't smile when I was building sites or just something pertaining to webmastering I would give it all up and not look back. Fuck that, way to easy to become discouraged webmastering! Last Thursday I couldn't believe I temporarily closed my post/submit page, I had to. Wouldn't you? I had 5200 galleries in my queue and was ten days behind. Spent a minimum 2 hrs a night sometimes more to review, all kinds of shit to do with the day job and my addition. I opted to rewire the whole damn house not just my addition :)

So let's get back to the 5200 submissions. WTF was I going to do?? Well I reviewed 5000 of them.. hence the term Dumb Italian! It took me from Thursday until Sunday night 8pm to get current with my queue. Out of the 5200 submissions guess how many were actually approved? 1300. That's fucken sad 25%, WTF? Over. I should have just gone out to dinner and given the waitress a 25% tip! It would have been a lot less aggravating. My reviewing nightmare is *done*. I can't say that it won't happen again. I am smiling while doing the Pasta Dance spending time going through preflight not just reviewing!

Something to think about prior to getting your feet wet with some of the more robust scripts available to us as webmasters. There is a lot of competition amongst coders out there. There really is no substitution. Everyone is better than the next. So how do you decide which script is right for you? Personally speaking, ask questions, a lot of questions, and do your own research. After all, would you buy a car because someone tells you it's fast, but doesn't tell you it's in the shop 3 out of 7 days in the week because the car eats brakes due to under sizing? What I have done seems to work rather well, if a phone number isn't published, I ask for one and when I could call at the coders convenience. I don't care where you are, if it's something I need to conduct business or save time I am calling. Go one on one with the coder, ask your questions and get your answers. The comfort factor either begins to be established or it doesn't.
