Webmaster's Corner

Interview with Pastaboy

DFN: This week's interview is with Pasta of Pasta's Pissers and PDAPornn

Lets get the real basic stuff first...
Pasta My name is Vinnie aka Pastaboy, I'm 40, and I live in Rockland, NY.

DFN: Why did you pick the nick, Pastaboy?
Pasta It was given to me My First Love You Know the one that gets in your head and just wont leave. The Italian bitch will haunt me till the day I die. She loved to watch me play baseball. During a tense game she called out C'mon PastaBoy Ducks on the Pond bring them home Baby. The reality she's gone and out of my head :). I was real good in baseball but not that good. Pastaboy is here to stay.

DFN: How often do you try new building ideas, or using new sponsors?
Pasta I try new sponsors constantly I'll look for something that distinguishes them from the rest. Tour Flow, Unique Content, and promotionals. TGP them real hard for a couple of weeks (I'm not recommending this) submit the pages to the SE's. If they convert with tgp traffic, I will use them for other projects.

DFN: And how often do you build new sites?
Pasta I try to build *something* everyday. Submit something to the se's every day.

DFN: We know you are always busy... about how many hours a week are you able to put into your business?
Pasta 20 - 30 hrs Monday thru Friday. Weekends I will average 16-20 hrs, sometimes more.

DFN: Do you do everything by hand? or do you use some scripts to automate your work?
Pasta Html, by hand. I use a few OTScripts... a fantomaster script. There is nothing like a well coded script.

DFN: Do you have any tips for us on how you stay focused and organized working for yourself?
Pasta I am an organizational freak and I keep accurate notes/records. Next question :) All jokes aside, with the amount of information we have to deal with to be a *webmaster* you better have your shit together but most of all centralized! The desire to succeed keeps me focused.

DFN: Can you touch on how and why you got involved into this industry, and how long you have been doing it?
Pasta Back in 1998, I had a friend that wanted to open an Adult bookstore. Hell, I figured WTF since adult bookstores are very low overhead, very high markup on product and a cash business. If you think about it where can you charge someone for a product, they hand you cash, have no eye contact, they don't give a shit what the product costs. All they want is their purchase in a bag as quick as possible so they wont be seen in public coming out of An Adult establishment? Thought I was on my way to making millions.

Went to a town board meeting for the building permit because the community didn't want the bookstore in a commercially zoned area, what an experience that was :/ When 100 people showed up I walked out didn't want to deal with the BS... the hypocrites... This same friend came to me weeks later and asked if I wanted to buy an adult website. We would be **partners** $300.00 ea and we would be on our way to making thousands of dollars each week... KICK.!!!. Yeah Right!!!

The only people that hit the site were our friends and my buddy. MY friend is long gone, divorced and haven't seen him since his internet romance started in our chat room.... that led to marriage. His wife thinks I am the anti Christ and the cause of her marital problems. Having a box full software, script purchases what would any self taught computer nerd do? Surfed for days on end gathering info, surfing resource sites and boards... I started to learn webmastering Jan 26th of 2000...

Have you checked out

Well what are you waiting for?
Check them out NOW!

DFN: Can you give a brief background on your history in this business, and where do you see yourself in one year and several years from now?
Pasta Still a lurker, I remember emailing Voltar one night asking him what I should do with one of the files Netobjects Fusion created... hehehe! Should I upload it, should I delete it..? "Pasta if you don't know how to write html I can't help you because I don't know Netobjects fusion"... He sent me to webmonkey and that was all I needed. Having an Engineering/Sales background, it was easy to learn a new programming language. Looking back. Patience, hard for a stubborn Italian, My wife's support, patience and understanding has made a world of difference.

DFN: What area in terms of site building do you specialize in, if any?
Pasta This is an interesting question...personally, I feel if you specialize in any one area your limiting yourself. The reason I say this ... A Multi disciplined engineer has far greater value to me, then a single disciplined engineer. Each area of webmastering can make you money, each area has it own set of guidelines that needs processing. Focusing on just one discipline you're limiting your growth potential as a webmaster... Something happens to your sole specialty. You're stuck in the proverbial box.

DFN: What do you consider to be your strengths in this business?
Pasta My strengths are my networking abilities and being able to decipher this person's opinion from that person's opinion to help make my decision.

DFN: What do you consider your 3 best niches?
Pasta I have done well with mature, tits, amateur. Lately though I am really starting to like trannies niche more and more.

DFN: What is the best advice you were given when you were first getting started in this industry and what advice could you give a newbie just starting out these days?
Pasta The best advice I was given.... get rid of the pay site, fast. What ALWAYS keeps my tank full to fuel the fire under my own ass "You cant make money on the internet, look at all the dot coms that have gone belly up, your wasting your time."

DFN: What do you think is the worst thing going on with future of our industry right now? ...and what is the best?
Pasta I could go off on a real tangent here. For the most part proliferation of free porn and the webmasters *not realizing* what they are doing.

The best part of this business was treating my endeavor as a business from day one.

DFN: And finally... do you have a URL you want to plug?
Pasta PDA Pornn.com
