Today we have a little insight as to to just *why* this is the best adult webmaster's work environment on the net. We have designed vnwr.com to be a safe place for newbies to work. Among other things, that means protecting newbies from themselves. Thus, no negative comments and no sponsor bashing - you never know when such a thing will come back to bite you. That part is simply protecting us from ourselves. *Also*, however, such comments can become the beginnings of a pissing match. We prefer such matches be taken elsewhere (we'll even give you the url upon request) - they are not conducive to the rest of us getting some work done. Meanwhile, from time to time we'll have someone wander through to announce, "Anybody else having trouble with (sponsor program)? My check bounced." We'll posts like that, for the reasons explained above. Of course the wanderer, likely as not, will accuse us of *protecting* (sponsor program). We're just protecting our advertisers. And indeed we are... but this is merely a side effect. Our primary intent is to protect our work environment, and protect those who choose to work here. By remaining *absolutely consistent* in our policy, we retain our credibility. As UltraMichel noted, he has not had a post pulled in five years. He gave a fair answer to a relevant question. His answer was *not* shaded with explosive overtones. It feels counterproductive to pull such posts, I assure you! In such cases we do take the time to explain why it was pulled. We *are* working towards a common goal; we *are* trying to provide consistent and useful information. PattyeCake tested the waters this week as well, posting something appropriate and reasonable... yet it does qualify as spam. Are we being overprotective? Heavens, yes! And we'll continue to do so. It's being "overprotective" which created this spam-free, piss-free work environment. The environment is working, and thus we'll keep doing as we're doing, even though our policy does get in the way from time to time. :-) Message # 1925 148.78.245.22 Wed Jul 18 13:48:04 2001 |
